My name is Sophie and this year will be my 14th summer at Chippewa. I am from Highland Park, IL and I graduated from Chapman University with my B.A in Integrated Educational Studies and minors in Environmental Studies and Language and Literacy. During the school year, I am an outdoor educator in the San Bernardino mountains in Southern California. When I’m not teaching, I love spending time with friends and family, exploring different areas around me, and doing lots of different art projects! One thing people may not know about me is that I love collecting sea glass; walking along the beach with my eyes peeled for specks of color peeking out from the sand and rocks is one of my favorite ways to unwind.
This summer at camp, you can find me in the office and all around camp! My favorite camp meal is barbecue and my favorite Cathy’s flavor is Lemon Sorbet. Campfires are my favorite Evening Program because sitting amongst the trees around the Center Fire Circle with the CRC community is the best way to relax after a busy, fun-filled week. I love being a Chippy because our camp community is unlike anything I could possibly find in the “real world.” I am most excited for the summer of 2024 because Chippewa is a place I know I’ll always be surrounded by supportive, creative, and kind individuals who celebrate one another in more ways than we could possibly count.
