Everything Matters Moments
-This morning when the UN Day Captains were announced, there was something that really stood out to me. I am not sure I have noticed this before but today it felt obvious. As their campers’ names were announced, the counselors of the captains had a look of distinct pride on each of their faces. Of course they were happy for their campers to be recognized for their leadership skills & potential, but I believe there was something deeper. I think that the counselors at Chippewa care so genuinely for their campers that their campers feel like an extension of themselves…the fact that these eight campers were selected to lead one of the biggest, most spirited and most competitive days of the summer feels like a shared triumph…their commitment to their campers is a piece of this accomplishment and I think they know that!
-At Random House this morning campers created models of different areas of Chippewa. Sutton G (Wagon Ridge) and Skylar S (Lucky-X) stormed the Office at the Top of the Hill after second period to show us their creation. And it was amazing…they made a model of the tri cabin…clothesline and all! The creation itself was quite impressive but the pride that was emanating from these two campers trumped the actual project. They were pointing out every little detail- they had really put a lot of thought into this and they worked together so well to create something they were truly proud of.
-Rafter^X camper, Alana S had the good fortune of being on a ski boat with Charlotte H, Yael S and Dylan K from Trailriders. This afternoon, Alana was so excited to share that Charlotte H passed a level on her boat…it was incredibly sweet…Alana was very proud of Charlotte and this experience seemed to give her a little extra confidence in her own skiing potential and abilities. She is super-excited to get back out there- no doubt that Charlotte, Yael and Dylan all played a role in building Alana’s enthusiasm for the Chippy waterskiing experience!
There you have it, friends! It was another spectacular day at CRC and I am feeling lucky to be a part of it, and to have the opportunity to witness so much magic. More to come tomorrow from Soph but I’ll be back on Friday! Have a good evening and talk soon.
Happy Camping and Love,
Sari
