Dearest Chippies,
Another week has come and gone and SO MUCH has happened. I am struggling to accept that the summer is already halfway over, but second session campers have brought a fresh burst of excitement and energy to CRC… and while I won’t call it much needed, I will call it reinvigorating. There is something so exciting about experiencing a camper’s first day of camp midway through the summer, once again watching old friendships being rekindled and new friendships forming. With the influx of second session campers, we are reminded how lucky we are to wake up with a lake view, to spend 24 hours a day with our favorite people, to ride a horse and waterski and climb the wall all in a single afternoon. It’s surreal how quickly it becomes normal and I’m always grateful for the reminder that our time at camp is finite. We must cherish the weeks and moments we have here, and this week has snapped back into focus the magic of camp. The energy at 8258 County O suggests that others feel it, too!
Today was another great day. Once again, due to the smoke from the Canadian wildfires, we made some program adjustments (but don’t worry… such adjustments did not impact the level of fun!). This morning was marked by age group rotations through various different activities… Rafter^X perfected their archery skills, the Tri-Cabin tested their baking skills making chocolate chip cookies, Blackfoot and Silverspurs explored their creative sides in Pottery, C-C and Bowed Legs tested their musical knowledge playing a longtime Chippy favorite, TV Games, and everyone had the chance to make some Chippewa Sticker Beans. It was a solid mix of age group bonding, engagement and fun… the perfect balance if I do say so myself!
This afternoon was when the fun REALLY exploded the fun-meter as each age group went on an off-camp excursion. Rafter^X, Blackfoot and Silverspurs went bowling; Lucky-X, Circle C, Wagon Ridge, Copper Stripes, Boots and Cactus went to an indoor waterpark; A-Frame, Timber Walk and Horseshoe played laser tag and mini golf; and C-C, Bowed Legs and Trailriders go-karted and mini golfed around the corner at Fudd’s. Lakeview campers continue to have an incredible time on their trip, and we can’t wait for them to return to camp tomorrow so we can hear all of the details. All in all, today was a blast and it seems likely that tomorrow will follow suit!
We ended the day with a Chippewa classic Evening Program—GLOW (Glorious Ladies of Wrestling). Each cabin placed bets on who they thought would reign victorious as staff engaged in “wrestling” matches such as Colt vs. Wrangler Village Director, Chicken Nuggets vs. French Fries, and more. The matchups were impressive and well-choreographed, and there was quite a lot of enthusiasm from campers and staff alike as they cheered for their desired winner. Congrats to Circle C on their success. Your intuition and prediction skills led you to victory tonight!
What a day… am I right?! With that, I bid you all goodnight. We are all sleeping well over here after another fun-filled day. I have no doubt that tomorrow will be a day full of smiles, laughs and good times… lucky for us, that is the norm!
As always, thanks for reading!
Sincerely,
Soph Aloaf
