Dear Chippies, Parents, Family and Friends,
I hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July weekend! Ours was pretty close to perfect- Friday Night Campfire, CRC 4th of July celebration and a relaxing Sunday…doesn’t get much better! Here’s how today went at #TheRanch2026…
7/5/26 Chippy Birthday!
-Mia R from C-C’s 13th Birthday
Our Day at CRC
-Sunday Morning Breakfast!
-Fudd’s Challenge (Congrats to Boots & Horseshoe!)
-Egg Marathon Sign-Ups- Egg Marathon is the final Tan and White game of the session…hard to believe that this one is already creeping up on us! Today Tans and Whites met with their teams to create a plan for which team members will participate in which parts of this all camp relay!
-Picnic + Mac & Cheese Lunch!
-United Nations Day Sign-Ups- Tomorrow is United Nations Day…woo hoo! Teams finalized their rosters for everything from flag football to scavenger hunt and from synchronized swimming to banner making. Each team is filled with campers and staff with unique talents & skills that will help their team compete tomorrow!
-SaLT Service Project- Brad and Ida from SaLT (Service and Learning Together) joined us this afternoon for an awesome service project. The entire camp gathered at the Center Fire Circle to learn about SaLT and the opportunity we all have to help our communities. We then headed into the Adler Lodge for two projects- one to make birthday cards for Make a Wish kids and one to create bags with socks and notes for those in need. It was a meaningful and fun project for all!
-Sunday Pizza Dinner!
-Camper Talent Show! This is always a highlight…such a fun evening program, and one that really brings out the best in our camp family. There were dance performances, songs sung, some cheer & gymnastics and two comedy shows! Everything Matters Moments
-As always, the early morning Sunday crew gave me an amazing greeting as I walked into the Adler Lodge to begin making breakfast. The crew was a bit thinner than normal due to last night’s late arrival back to camp post fireworks. That said, there were still plenty of campers there…youngsters and oldsters (in camper years) hanging outside the lodge together just chit chatting as they waited for their favorite breakfast of the week. It was sweet!
-Soph-Aloaf and I had the opportunity to drive The Fudds Challenge winning cabins to Fudds this evening and it was so nice. I drove the cabin of Boots and absolutely loved being “a fly on the wall” as they conversed in the van. Listening to how their counselors talk with them and guide them brought a gigantic smile to my face. The ice cream was pretty good too…overall a lovely little post dinner outing!
-The Talent Show was outstanding from start to finish. The crowd was into it, the acts were cute and impressive, and it was overall a blast. As the show was coming to a close, something special happened. To give a little bit of background info- Lily R (Trailriders) began doing a Cotton Eyed Joe dance her first summer back in 2021 and it has been a Talent Show staple ever since. It is possible that she feels like she has grown out of this dance but I can tell you that the rest of the camp loves it! After the final act, the camp began chanting, “Lily R, Cotton Eyed Joe!” And sure enough, she got up on stage and did it…the crowd went wild! Every generation at camp has dances/songs like these that rally the whole camp together and I love that this is that Chippewa tradition living on. THANK YOU, Lily from all of us!
That’s about all from CRC today. We can’t wait for United Nations Day tomorrow- one of the best of the summer every summer! Thanks for reading- talk to y’all soon!
Happy Camping and Love, Sari
