Dear Chippies, Parents, Family and Friends,
Our first full day of second session was both scorching hot and amazingly wonderful. One of the cool things about the start of second session is that while we have a large number of campers who have already been here for four weeks, the burst in energy from our second session campers, and the restarting of camp brings quite a vibe…a revitalization if you will. And today, that was felt all across camp! Here is how it all transpired…
Our Day at CRC
-Morning Wake-Up with a belated birthday wake-up for Sloane B (A-Frame) and the very first Seven Wonders Quiz!
-Breakfast- French Toast Sticks, Bacon and Scrambled Eggs.
-Cabin Clean-Up!
-Morning Rotations- A combo of swimming, tubing, skiing and play try-outs. We had fun, did our best to stay cool and enjoyed time with our age groups!
-Lunch- Meatball Subs, Soft Pretzel Bites and the greatest salad bar in Chippewa’s history.
-Tan and White Reveal- New campers bit into a cupcake to learn if they are lifelong members of the Tan or White Team!
-Big and Little Sis Reveal- Big and Little Sisters were so excited to meet, and to begin their session-long journey of fun together!
-Afternoon Rotations- A combo of SUPing, signing up for activities, movie time in the Gold Center (for some much needed AC), continued tubing & skiing and South Field water games!
-Dinner- Pizza!
-Canteen- Today was letter writing day (so you should all receive a letter in the next 3-10 days ;)). In exchange for a letter home, each camper got Canteen tonight and the selection was on fleek (not sure if kids still say that these days)!
-Tan & White Sandstorm- This game was insanely close…like crazy. In the end though, we congratulate the Tan Team for getting their pile of sand from the south end of camp to north ultimately weighing down their pulley garbage can contraption to the ground before the White Team.
Activity Achievements
-Shay S (Boots) got up and around the lake on one ski!
-Hayden W (Copper Stripes) dropped a ski and got around the lake on one!
-Elle H (A-Frame) got up on one ski and crossed the wakes!
-Chloe A (Horseshoe) got up and around the lake on two skis!
Everything Matters Moments
-This one is from last night but it is too good not to share. We had four campers arrive during dinner and one of them, Inez B (Cactus), is brand new to camp. When she walked into the Adler Lodge, she was greeted by her entire cabin- both campers and counselors alike were super excited to see her. But Tatum G’s welcome was one that I will remember for a long time…she had a huge smile on her face and said, “Inez- welcome, we are so excited you are here.” Her arms were wide open both figuratively and literally…Tatum wanted to be sure that Inez immediately felt the Chippy love.
-Throughout the day, there were a ton of sweet moments in which eight week campers were helping new four week campers. This morning in Silverspurs, Maeve B offered to go with Harper G to do her job as Gopher. It was an unsurprising yet incredibly kind gesture by Maeve, and the look on Harper’s face let me know that she really appreciated it!
-The Tan & White spirit is through the roof! The energy was high at the reveal and the anticipation post dinner was palpable. New campers have officially bought in and it was so cool to see their enthusiasm shine in preparation for tonight’s big game.
-Lakeview 2026 officially seems to be in “live it up mode.” Today it was obvious when they sang during afternoon announcements, as they moved through the messhall during sign-ups and their general participation all day long in every activity they were a part of. I am so happy for them- it isn’t often in life that we recognize the importance of savoring the moment but I actually think they get it and they are making sure they take it all in.
As you have read, our session is off to just the right start. We are so excited for regular activities tomorrow and for everything else that will happen in our CRC World…each and every moment we get to live it! Thanks for reading- talk soon!
Happy Camping and Love,
Sari
