Dear Chippies, Parents, Family and Friends,

Today was an amazing day here at Chippewa Ranch Camp for girls, squirrels, and horses. Here is how the day went for us…

Meals:
Breakfast: Donuts, Turkey Bacon, and French Toast
Lunch: Chicken Tenders and Fries
Dinner: Brisket, Latkes, and Cupcakes!

Lost Teeth:
Sammi Schwarcz lost half of her tooth and the tooth fairy Gladys paid a visit!

Activity Achievements:
-Chloe K (Lucky-X) passed crossing the wakes on two skis!
-Haddie I (C-C) passed crossing the wakes on one ski!
-Emmy S (Cactus) passed getting up and around the lake on two skis!

Special Announcements:
The Cabin of Lakeview got a 100 on cabin clean up!

What Else Happened Today!?
Today started out as a very exciting day because it is Camper Counselor Switch Day! Camper Counselor Switch Day is a day where campers from the cabins Bowed Legs & C-C, up to the cabin of Lakeview switch spots with staff members.

Hi- it is Zoe C, and I switched places with Sari H for the day! And I’m here with my friend Skye N, who switched places with Sophie M for the day! A couple days before the real camper counselor switch day, campers play a “horse and goggle” to figure out which staff member they will switch with. On the real day, the campers get to take on the roles of the staff members and their responsibilities, experience what it’s like to have campers, and to be counselors too!

The day started off with morning announcements from Maisy B who switched places with Cliff L. After everyone woke up, the campers got ready to switch places with the counselors and went to breakfast. Then activities started, and today was an A day which is super exciting because it has been a hot minute since we last had regular A day activities! Even though there has been some rain today, it is not stopping anyone from going and participating in their activities! So many campers have been jumping in the rainy puddles, getting in the lake, and running around with their friends!

During Lunch Maisy B (Cliff L), took a tumble and dropped a bunch of dishes and afterward had to clean them all up. After lunch, the whole camp went to the theater to celebrate Smargs’s 15 years at CRC! Then everyone continued on with their everyday activities! It is so fun to watch all of these campers do counselor things, and this day is fun for everyone no matter the age!

Then at 7:30pm everyone reported to the center fire circle! Tonight’s beautiful campfire was led by Hayley B (Lakeview), and the theme was Authenticity! The CRC singers did an amazing job singing, and Sammi S, Jenna W, Sadie S, and Peyton S (all from Lakeview) played Night Changes on the guitar! Brooke R (Trailriders) and Julia N (Lakeview) each shared an evening sermonette and we ended the night with a Keylog Ceremony & The Chippewa Creed.

Now it’s Sari again :). I just wanted to thank Zoe for writing this, and making this day so much fun! I also want to shout-out Sara Margolis (Smargs). As Zoe mentioned, today we celebrated her 15th summer at CRC. It was a really nice celebration, which included a visit from her parents, a sweet ceremony, and cake! We also announced that the Gold Center concession stand will forever be known as the Smargcession Stand in her honor. Smargs has been a fixture at Chippewa and is a person here who genuinely makes a difference. She is often known for helping with camper calls and being the Director of the Gold Center, but the truth is that she is a person who figures out what needs to be done, and what members of our community need to feel safe and supported, and she does those things. She has an impact on the individuals in this community and on this community as a whole. It is hard to imagine Chippewa without Sara, which is pretty cool given that fifteen years ago, it would have been hard to imagine her still being here in the year 2026…she has come a long way and we are so grateful for her commitment to CRC!
