What Else Happened Today?!
-Today was the first day of activities for our final sign-up of the summer. There was something in the air that told me that campers around here understand that time is officially of the essence. Despite it being a little bit of a cooler day, there was no lack of excitement to jump in the lake and fully participate in every minute of activities that was offered. Of course, there is still plenty of camping left, but I was happy to see that the members of this community are taking advantage of our opportunity to do camp.
-We had a lovely coin ceremony after lunch where we honored four campers- Mia R for her Empathy, Liv K for her Responsibility, Joyelle H for her Optimism and Shay S for her Cooperation. It was heart warming to see the response not only from those who received the coins but also to see how proud their friends, siblings and cabinmates were. There were huge smiles when we called them fowrard, head nods as we talked about each of these campers and loving hugs of congratulations.
-This evening we were entertained and amazed by the Chippy production of Frozen. The cast was outrageously talented…their stage presence was both campy and impressive, their acting was highly amusing and their singing was extraordinary! I absolutely loved seeing so many Lakeview campers on Sophie’s Center Stage ceasing the opportunity to be in their final Chippy production. Congratulations to the entire cast and a special shout-out to Alexa D who played Young Anna, Sydney S who played Middle Anna, Lainey K who played Anna, Shay C who played Young Elsa, Rees W who played Middle Elsa, Liv K who played Elsa, Skylar C who played King Agnarr, Alexis R who played Queen Iduna, Naomi R who played Pabble, Gretta M who played Bulda, Amelia R who played Bishop, Alexa R who played Kristoff, Samantha G who played Sven, Emma S who played Hans, Sadie S who played Weselton, Olaf who played Summer K and Blair S who played Oaken.
-To make the evening even more exciting, Camp Timberlane joined us to watch the musical! They were excellent audience members and we enjoyed hanging with them…brothers, friends and family members were thrilled to reunite (and take some cute photos)!
-The final event of the night was the Cast Party. The entire cast…Rafter through Lakeview loved their ice cream sundae party. When I went to the Adler Lodge to congratulate the whole crew on their performance, I couldn’t help but stop to see what Harlow F had in her bowl…let’s just say it looked like a celebration in a bowl. Everything good and delicious an eight year-old could ask for was in that bowl…it was awesome!
That’s about all for now…it was a fantastic day around here! Congratulations to all those who participated in the play- both the campers and the directors should feel great pride in the result of their efforts! Being in a production like this one is so good for our campers. Some have never been in a play before and it is so cool that they took the leap to try something new. And some are serious performers at home, so being in a play like this one requires them to take things a little less seriously than they may be used to. Either way, there are so many lessons learned and such an impact had on each of these Chippies! Okay, now for real that’s it…thanks for reading- talk to you soon .
Happy Camping and Love,
Sari
