What Else Happened Today?!
-B-Day activities were rocking all day long! At the climbing wall, I had the good fortune to watch Jilly C zoom excitedly down the zipline! And in swimming, the campers of Rafter^X were practicing their log rolling with help from Lakeview campers Laney K and Alexa R. At riding, Mackenzie A completed her highest ever jump…amazing! Probably my favorite part of the day was when I was walking by trampball in between periods. The tri-cabin girls were patiently waiting for the instructor to arrive (there were still four minutes before the activity period began). They asked if I could watch them while they waited for the instructor. I was so happy that they wanted to jump that I agreed immediately. What happened next though was the best part…they began playing a very intense game. The rules were known by all, they each wanted to win but they were playing fairly and with a wonderful competitive spirit. I loved it!

-This afternoon we took our all-camp photo, cabin photos and second & third generation photos. While Picture Day definitely takes some patience, the finished products that Eric Walsh (our incredibly photographer) provides us always make it worthwhile! I absolutely love to look back at old photos- from before I was a camper, when I was a camper and more recent photos. The history that these photos provide us is so special…it helps us remember those who made such an impact on Chippewa Ranch Camp over the course of the last 80 years…there are faces of people who lived for Chippewa decades ago in the same way our campers do now. And decades from now, campers of the 2050s will be looking back at the 2025 photos to see the faces of those who carried the torch of CRC love at this moment in time. Pretty cool, huh?!

-This evening was Songfest practice. We are getting close to Thursday- the big day when all of the campers’ hard work pays off. Some campers absolutely love Songfest and pour their hearts into it. Others are less excited but know that they are a part of a team, and every game can’t be their favorite. What I love about this particular game is that it is truly one that revolves around teamwork and commitment. The Grand & Chief Sachems of each team put in an immense amount of effort to make the whole Songfest experience fun and rewarding. And from what I can tell, they are doing an incredible job of keeping kids engaged and happy while learning lots of team songs, cheers and movements. I am so excited for Thursday night- to find out the themes and to watch as campers gleam with pride up on Sophie’s Center Stage!

That was our lovely day at CRC. Thanks for reading- have a wonderful night!

Happy Camping and Love,
Sari
