What Else Happened Today?!
-The morning started off with something crazy and something exciting. Eli F from the cabin of Boots won the Seven Wonders Quiz. A feat that may have never been achieved in Chippewa history. After winning the play-in question, Eli proceeded to answer seven trivia questions correctly. Camp was getting more and more tense with each question she answered…nobody could believe it when she got that final question…it was amazing! When asked at breakfast how she possibly did this, she let me know that she had been “training” with her cabin- they have been going through random trivia questions in preparation. And it paid off!

-We had an awesome day full of B Day activities! At arts & crafts, they made these very cool cards…some of you may be receiving them in the mail in just about a week . At painting, campers were creating all sorts of masterpieces. Sammy W’s fire painting was just that…pretty fire! At outdoor cooking they made nachos, which were delish!

-After second period, we gathered at the Center Fire Circle to announce the United Nations Day captains. Each summer four campers from Colt Village and four campers from Wrangler Village are selected based on their demonstration of the values of the Chippewa Compass, their leadership potential, their enthusiasm for the camp program, their efforts in having a positive impact and the example that they set in their cabins & at activities. And today we called on Neve F, Naomi M, Sydney S, Callie W, Leah J, Sam J, Laney K and Alexis R to lead United Nations Day 2025! A huge congrats to these very deserving campers!

-I was excited to have the opportunity to drive A-Frame, Bowed Legs and C-C to Copper Falls for their camping trip this afternoon. It was fun to partake in a small portion of this bonding experience. Listening to them talk, laugh and sing in the van together was just the dose of happy that can make someone’s day…and it sure did that for me. They discussed past lip syncs, heard stories from their counselors about their camping trips as campers and talked about how much they love having a phone-free summer. It was a blast and I was so happy to have that time with this crew!

-Tonight was Pirate Night! It is a fan favorite around here- one of the few programs we run both first and second session. Cabins got decked in their assigned colors and ran around camp trying to avoid the pirates while searching for pirate flags and following the scavenger hunt to find the buried treasure. In the end, Trailriders found the treasure but Lakeview won the night because after a crazy race between Alexa R and Anabelle L, Lakeview procured the rainbow flag which is worth crazy amounts of points.

That’s about all from Dam Lake for now. Thanks for reading- enjoy your night!

Happy Camping and Love,
Sari
