Dearest Chippies,
I write to you this evening in a state of shock that it is already somehow Thursday once again. It has been an incredibly fast and incredibly incredible few days since our last correspondence, and there are lots of happenings to update you on—the most important being that the sun was shining bright today! Let’s jump into the details of the day…
It was a busy one over here on County O, with B Day activities in full swing. Sailboats scoured the lake as fish were caught, campers were blobbed, and mini pizzas were baked in Cooking. Over at Skiing, Skylar G and Cameron R got up and around on two skis, and Zoe P crossed the wakes on two skis. And perhaps most impressively, Violet S got a grand slam in softball! I think it’s safe to say, it was a good one!
If you can believe it… there is still more excitement to discuss. Alexia C and Reese M both lost teeth, and we had a Coin Ceremony after lunch where the Big Sisters from last weekend’s CRC Experience (Chloe A, Annie F, Jessie H, Anabelle L, Alexis R, Naomi R, Sunny W, Julia M, Emma S, Ivy S, Summer K, Alexa R, Lexi K, Dylan C, Laney K, Viv L and Evah R) were recognized with Responsibility Coins. And then, to top it all off, we closed out the day with a special Thursday night edition of our Friday Night Campfire (a day early due to the 4th of July festivities tomorrow). Tonight’s campfire surrounded the theme of authenticity—a characteristic at the center of the Chippewa experience; what we hope for our campers is that they leave Chippewa as kind, confident and capable people who are proud of who they are and the impact they have on those around them. The words shared this evening were a reminder that camp is a place where we can become and exude our best selves. As always, it was a meaningful way to end the week.
Special shout out to tonight’s campfire participants, which include… Alexis R, who led the campfire with poise and confidence; Zoe P, Sasha C, Evan G, Naomi R, Chloe M, Emmy L, Sydney C, Reese L, Naomi T, Sam J, Blair S, Malia S and Raquel W who read quotes with pride; Liv W, Julia N and Holly S who wrote heartfelt sermonettes about the power of being YOU; amd Karina O who delivered a speech about Mexican culture and tradition.
And so… all in all, I’d call this day a W. It was full of fun, meaning, Chippy spirit, and anticipation for tomorrow’s 4th of July celebration. Lakeview has been working tirelessly to put together a program that I have no doubt will blow everyone out of the water. Their collaboration and dedication will undoubtedly make this a memorable 4th for everyone, and I can’t wait to see their hard work and commitment come to life tomorrow morning. Stay tuned for updates from one of the best and most festive days of the summer!
Sincerely,
Soph Aloaf
