What Else Happened Today?!
-We had a really lovely day of B-Day activities. At cooking, we made some very delicious butterscotch blondies that were shared all across camp! I had the great fortune of stopping by the ropes course during first period. Campers were full of glee on the top of the course- they were trust falling, gliding across the cargo net and working through the challenge of the stairway to heaven. Campers at kayaking are loving our brand new kayaks…paddling on Dam Lake has become much more comfortable and campers were excited to get out there on this beautiful day!
-This afternoon we had an intercamp with Marimeta and it was awesome! Colt Village campers headed to Marimeta to compete in tennis, soccer and basketball while we hosted the Marimeta Wrangler Village aged campers to play those same sports. Chippewa really rocked it on the courts and fields- it was a spectacular afternoon full of competition, pride and excitement! According to Lainey McCormac, the Colt Village basketball coach, “We showed great team spirit, sportsmanship and determination and we won in the end. We played well as a team and everyone got the opportunity to compete, giving the game their all. We cheered each other on and shook hands at the end. I was so proud of all the girls for their efforts.“
-And tonight was Tan & White Counselor Hunt! Counselors hid all across camp- in the woods, under ground, in attics and even in plain sight. Tans and Whites paired up (older campers with younger campers) and searched high and low calling out, “I’m a White (or Tan), I see you” each time they spotted a staff member. I was caught by Olivia R and Miley L from the Tan Team after about 45 minutes of sitting in a box in the office. I was extremely hot and my body was completely contorted…I had to break the box to get out…it was really something to see! Charlie Kabaker, Avery Kingsepp and Lauren Gottlieb were walking around camp disguised at campers…they were wearing Tan & White apparel, hoods up and flashlights on. And they didn’t get caught! Additionally Saffron, Jorge, Pablo and Annika stayed hidden until the game ended…very impressive! Tonight the Tan Team was victorious- scoring more points with their finds than the Whites.
And now it is time for bed. We had a fun-filled and busy day at #TheRanch2025. Impact was apparent all over the place- from our regular activities to the intercamp with Marimeta, and of course during Counselor hunt- campers were being challenged, feeling connected and have fun! Thanks for reading- talk to y’all tomorrow!
Happy Camping and Love,
Sari
