The below was written by Lakeview camper, Liv K, who I had the great honor of switching places with today for Camper Counselor Day. Camper Counselor Day is always a blast, but today was extra special. I loved having the opportunity to dress and act like Liv (including starting “A Chippewa Girl” twice during lunch). Even better though was watching Liv walk in my shoes- she made announcements, wrote The Sari Diaries, attended an admin meeting, visited activities and even took some photos. She was awesome and I was ecstatic to watch it go down. Thank you, Liv- you rocked it today!

What Else Happened Today?!
-Today started out as a very special day since it is Camper Counselor Switch Day. Camper Counselor Switch Day is a day where older campers switch with staff and become them for the day, taking on their role and responsibilities. The older campers were able to sit with the young campers at lunch, hang out in the staff retreat, teach activities, and cheer for Tan and White.

-To start off the day, we had regular A Day Activities. Although it has been raining lately, Camp just keeps on going. During Stand Up Paddle Boarding, Lexi K, Lily R, and Dylan C decided to jump in the water despite the cold weather. During swimming campers had a blast while making up dances and songs, competing in synchronized swimming competitions. Today in cooking they made delicious chocolate brownies with the help of Emme M being Jen the Baker today.

-During lunch Bailey F (Cliff Lissner) took a tumble while clearing Lakeview’s dishes. The Tans and Whites cheered for Stalk the Lantern, the second evening program tonight. Throughout the afternoon we had regular activities, Shoutout to Lakeview for continuing to plan an amazing 4th of July for the camp. #TheBestDayEver.

-Around 5:30, all campers and staff threw on their Chippewa shirts for our traditional Friday night dinner. After dinner Summer K led a beautiful Campfire about Courage. The campfire began around the flagpole with our formal retreat. Emme M sang the National Anthem while Noa C, Noa G and Alexis R lowered the flag with Maisy B holding the flag box. Lana M, Avery J, Lulu J, Lexi K, Sadie M, Emmy R, Eloise D, Alexa R, Olivia R, Sienna B and Callie W all read quotes, stories and poems. Quinn M, Sadie S and Lainey McCormac wrote amazing sermonettes, sharing meaningful words of wisdom to the entire camp. Ruby Higgs-Ward shared with us about her hometown and home country, England. And to end the campfire, we had an incredible Keylog Ceremony.

-To end the evening we played the Tan and White game, Stalk the Lantern. Campers dressed in all black, attempting to sneak to the center of the circle without getting caught, trying to win the most points for their team. The CITs went all out, dressing up in crazy and bright costumes, while still managing to get 100’s for their teams. The Whites were the big winners tonight!

So with that I’m out. Today was nothing short of a spectacular day on Dam Lake. Thanks for having me as a Guest Writer.

Happy Camping and Love,
Liv K
