This month’s Alumni Spotlight features Katie Fox! Katie is a longtime member of the CRC Alumni Association Board and cares deeply about providing ways for Chippies to stay connected to and engaged with Chippewa. She is a dedicated and enthusiastic human and Chippy, and we absolutely love having Katie as a part of our CRC alumni community! Read below to learn all about Katie’s time at Chippewa as well as about her life in Denver!

What years were you at CRC?
1987 - 1993.

Which summer was your favorite and why?
I’d have to say Lakeview year was my favorite. It’s the subtle transition from being a camper and being prepped to be a counselor… running events and activities and being looked up to by the younger kids.

What is your favorite camp memory?
I played the oldest daughter in Fiddler On The Roof with Kawaga one year. Part of the play was that I got “married.” As I look back, it was a bit odd, but I’ll never forget it ;)

What was your favorite activity at camp?
After dancing for most of my life, I ran the theater with my dear friend Halley Smith Firstenberg for many years. It was always so rewarding to see our weeks of hard work (and the campers’ of course) come to life on the Chippy stage!!

Were you a Tan or a White?
Tan.

How do you keep in touch with your camp friends?
My camp friends are the best! We get together at camp reunions as much as we can, talk on the phone, and visit each other. I am very thankful for each of them!

Where do you live now?
I’ve been in Denver since 2010, but have some big life changes on the horizon, including an upcoming move… exact location TBD!

What do you do?
I have owned a digital marketing company in the live music space (tour bands & music festivals) for almost 20 years. And I’d like to mention I only employ women in this very man-dominanted space.

What do you miss most about camp?
All of it! 8 weeks of fun, growing, learning and trusting.

You have attended Alumni Camp many times. What is your favorite part of Alumni Camp?
I just love getting into camp mode… arriving, getting set up in my cabin, walking around and taking in the sights, smells and vibes. It is just amazing to be able to visit my home away from home with my besties!

What was your favorite part of the 80th Alumni Reunion?
I really enjoyed the Chippepedia activity, learning about all of the activity-based history and walking through the theater with old and new friends trying to fill in the blanks.

Anything else you want to share with your Chippy family?
I would not be who I am today without the influence Chippewa had on me. I am so grateful for the friendships and memories that I carry with me!
