Dear Chippies, Parents, Family and Friends,

Friday is back! And here are the details…

Meals:
-Cinnamon Rolls and Chocolate Chip Muffins for Breakfast
-Chicken Caesar Wraps and Fries for Lunch
-Brisket, Potato Pancakes and Kugel for Dinner

Birthday:
Mia R’s 11th Birthday!

Details of the Day:
As seems to be typical this summer, we had a day mixed with sun and rain. This morning we woke up to a dreary day but before first period began, the sun came out. We were able to have almost completely regular activities today aside from some rainy day programming during fourth period. At cooking, they made delicious pizzas, which campers were raving about. And at archery, Sydney B hit six golds! Of course at skiing, we had some awesome achievements including Olivia R and Noa G crossing the wakes on one ski.

As is true on all Friday nights, the real excitement came post-dinner. The happiness all began in my office when a sweet collection of humans were just chilling on my couch. Ellie Wise, Kayleigh Dyble, Logan W, Jada C and Sage L were chit chatting about life. These eleven year-olds and twenty-something year-olds were just enjoying each other’s company, once again proving that the Chippewa Sisterhood knows no bounds in terms of age. From the Office at the Top of the Hill, we all headed down to the Flag Pole for the start of this evening’s Friday Night Campfire, which began with our traditional Formal Retreat and Flag Program.

Once we all gathered at the Center Fire Circle for the main event, we were greeted by Ava Z who led tonight’s campfire. The theme was Authenticity, and it was incredible. Stella R, Amelia F, Audry L, Cameron R, Zora L, Hayley B, Bryna C, Cameron H, Lincoln Z, Mia G, Cameron H, Emme M, Ivy S, Hazel N and Ella R all read poems, stories and quotes relating to Authenticity. And Charlotte H & Marni S wrote and shared incredible sermonettes that perfectly described how CRC has helped them be true to themselves. The CR-Singers sang “Waiting on the World to Change” and “You’ve Got a Friend,” and Lauren Hill sang a Lauren Hill original, which we all loved. And finally, we had a fantastic Keylog Ceremony and Chippewa Creed.

As I looked up at the trees and down at the fire during the creed, I felt the peace that Fridays bring around here. Throughout the campfire, it was nice to have some time to reflect on our amazing week. While I didn’t throw an actual keylog in during the Keylog Ceremony, I would like to throw one in via this post for Lakeview. There were a ton of campers and counselors who gave a shout out to Lakeview for their hard work and impeccable execution yesterday, but I want to take a moment to share my thoughts. This group of 39 Lakeview campers along with their six counselors created an extraordinary Chippy experience for all of us yesterday. They worked hard, they worked together and they were thoughtful throughout the whole process. Having 39 teenage girls plan a full-day program for a camp of 350 people could go a whole lot of ways, but I was consistently impressed with the care, creativity, implementation and follow-through they demonstrated throughout this whole process. They created a plan, figured out who was best suited for which committee, created lists, had meetings, and the plan worked…the day ran smoothly, and was a true treat for Chippies young and old. And maybe the best part is that the cabin of Lakeview also had fun. Not only did they appreciate seeing the fruits of their labor pay off, but they also found genuine joy in the process. They grew closer as a cabin unit and they gained an appreciation for what goes into each day at CRC. And so, I throw this keylog in for the cabin of Lakeview. I thank you all for your commitment to making the Fourth of July such a special day for #TheRanch2024. It has been an honor to watch you all grow from your 8, 9 and 10 year-old selves into these outstanding leaders, friends and humans. Thank you for showing the Chippewa community how to do and how to be!

Thanks for reading- goodnight, Chippies!

Happy Camping and Love,
Sari
