Dearest Chippies,

Good evening from CRC! It was another jam-packed, fun-filled day over here at #TheRanch2024. I know you’re giddy with excitement to hear about this fine Thursday. Let’s just get right to it…

Today was a second session rarity: a full day of regular activities. Chocolate chip cookies were baked in Cooking, High School Musical songs were perfected in the Theater and, usual, there were LOTS of skiing achievements. A big congrats to Leah C, Lilah K and Cate M on becoming CHIPPY BATS! At this rate, we are going to have 570823 Chippy Bats by the end of the summer… how exciting is that!

We rounded out the day with one of the biggest Tan and White games of the summer: Songfest. Songfest is one of Chippewa’s longest standing Tan and White traditions; and tonight—after a great deal of planning, creativity, teamwork and dedication—The Amazing SpiderTANS and Whites on Sesame Street took Sophie’s Center Stage to perform their hearts out. In preparation for tonight’s performances, Sydney L and Maddyn C of the White Team and Scout K and Sadie S of the Tan Team (with the help of the rest of the CITs and Lakeview) poured countless hours into preparing their skits, songs, murals and medallions. As I watched the performances from the back of the Theater, what was just as noticeable as the wide smiles on everyone’s faces was the pride that campers young and old displayed as they sung their respective cheers.

If I have learned anything in my 20 years at CRC, it is that preparing for Songfest is no easy feat. It takes an immense amount of time, effort, cooperation and leadership. Tonight, the Tan team won the game of Songfest, but the leadership and team morale displayed by all four Sachems (and, frankly, the entirety of both teams) was incredible. Thank you to all Tans and Whites, but specifically Sydney, Maddyn, Scout and Sadie, for your leadership and commitment to the tradition of Tan and White. Tonight’s performances were a reflection of your hard work, and your leadership will continue to shape young campers’ commitment to the Tan & White program for many summers to come.

So… now do you see what I mean about it being an amazing day?! Thanks for reading. Talked to you next week!

Sincerely,
Soph Aloaf
