Our March Staff Spotlight features Summer Weitzman! Summer is a thoughtful, hardworking and fun member of our staff team. In her 10 (going on 11!) years at CRC, it is clear that she loves camp and cares deeply about the CRC community. Summer is an asset to Chippewa and we are thrilled to have her as a part of our #TheRanch2024 staff! Read below to learn a bit more about Summer’s camp experiences and life in the off-season.
1. How many summers have you been at camp?
This will be my 11th summer at camp!
2. What cabin were you in during the summer of 2023?
During the summer of 2023, I was in the cabin of Copper Stripes.
3. What is your favorite part about being a counselor at CRC?
I love everything about being a counselor at camp. Having my campers look up to me as I did to my counselors as a camper is the most rewarding feeling. I get to build such a strong connection with my campers and my goal is to make them have the most amazing summer and be there for them whenever they need. I also love being on staff because I get to be so close with all ages and get to be with my friends from all over the world.
4. What was your favorite memory from the summer of 2023?
My favorite memory from the summer of 2023 was my 10 Year. It was amazing to experience that day because I had been waiting for it since I was 8 years old!
5. What is your favorite camp memory of all time?
Thinking of one favorite memory of all time is difficult because I love everything about camp. Whether it is hanging out with my age group for years and years, passing a level in waterskiing, being UN Day advisor, solo sailing for the first time, being a role model to my campers, or even just being at camp… camp is my home away from home and I would not trade that for the world!
6. How do you stay in touch with your camp friends during the year?
Throughout the year I make time to see my camp friends and Facetime them all of the time.
7. What are you most excited about for the summer of 2024?
This summer I am looking forward to being with my best friends and being at my favorite place.
9. What do you do when you are not at camp?
Outside of camp, I attended The University of Illinois during the school year. I love hanging out with my friends and family the most. I also love going on walks when it is nice outside.
10. Anything else you want to share with your Chippy family?
I cannot wait for another amazing summer at camp!!!
