Dear Chippies, Parents, Family and Friends,

I hope you all had a lovely Wednesday! Here in Chippyland, we had a good one filled with some good weather and some not so good weather. But we made it work and had a wonderful time. Read the deets below to learn all about it!

This morning we had a very special birthday wake-up for Lindsay Adess. Lindsay has been celebrating her birthday at CRC since she turned eight and today is her 18th birthday! Not only was it an excellent day of festivities, it was also special to be celebrating Lindsay’s birthday for the 10th time! We are looking forward to many, many more birthday celebrations with Lindsay in the future .

This morning we had a full slate of regular activities and Chippies were rocking it up the climbing wall, at archery, along the ninja course, out on the sailboats and even down on the fishing docks…basically all across camp Chippies were shining. At skiing, Charlie Mlodinoff got up on the boom, Riley F got up on two skis for ten seconds, Riley L got up and around the lake on two skis, Emerson M crossed the wakes on two skis, Coral S, Grace M & Hayley B crossed the wakes and lifted a ski for ten seconds and Kedzie Z dropped a ski and stayed up on one ski for ten seconds.

In other news, we sadly had to remove a tree in between the lakefront cabins and the playground. While it was a good move safety-wise, we had a number of campers feeling sad about the implications to our Earth. Specifically, Evah R and Vivien L are interested in planting another tree at camp to replace the one that had to come down. We are currently in the process of making that happen. It’s pretty cool that despite all of the busy-ness of our day at camp, members of the CRC community took the time to legitimately care about the impact we are having on our planet!

This afternoon, we had to take a break in the action because of the weather. During third period, cabins played “Train of Thought.” Cabins got really into it and according to Summer Weitzman of Copper Stripes loved it. They wrote a full page story about why each picture connected to the others. It was a cute bonding and connecting activity that kept campers and their counselors fully engaged.

Our first BBQ dinner of the session was delish. I was honored to sit with a bunch of Silverspurs campers. Tyler T and I had an important conversation about chip flavors, Parker F was very interested in knowing when the next Coin Ceremony would be and Leah N & Leah S were busy discussing their costume for the evening…they were dressing up as sports stars. Also, as a side note, apparently today was National Hot Dog Day, so I was glad to partake in the big day by enjoying a hotdog!

Tonight’s evening program was a homerun! Glorious Ladies of Wrestling (aka GLOW) is always a hit around here but tonight the energy felt extra hype. We had MCs Kayleigh and Charlie (each replicating the other’s “accent”) and staff members wrestled against one another as campers bet camp money on the matches. There had been some Chippy theater earlier in the day to help set the scene for some of these matchups. It was highly entertaining and despite having to move into the New Building from the North Field, campers had a blast!

Following GLOW, Sadie G and Jayden G stopped by the office with three frogs. And they were pretty full grown frogs. Campers around here often like to catch frogs and care for them but they are typically fairly small frogs. These guys were big though and it was awesome. I love how Chippy campers who appreciate the finer things at home can run around this place in search of frogs to play with and care for…they really just settle into camp life and I think it is so cool!

And finally, before calling it a night, I stopped by the Main House to find Copper Stripes enjoying “Sing 2” and an ice cream party for Lexi K’s belated birthday party. It was very cute to see them all cuddled up on the Xorbies happy as could be.

So that’s the story from us today…it was not our typical day but it was a good one. More tomorrow from Soph-Aloaf!

Happy Camping and Love,
Sari
