Dear Chippies, Parents, Family and Friends,
These days are really just flying by at #TheRanch2023. Another day has come and gone, and it was another fabulous one, but it is hard to believe that we are already in the month of July! As for today, I got to experience the morning through a unique lens- through that of a tour. As first period began, so did the second official prospect tour of the summer. Naturally, we have a specific route we take, some important talking points, and a couple of other essential Chippy highlights that we always like to hit on a tour. This morning though, things got a bit derailed…but in a good way. Before making it past the playground, we were stopped by the campers at recess who were excited to welcome the tour. The campers we ran into began explaining all sorts of things about camp- from how activities work to what happens in Lisa’s Lounge and from canteen to the camp dogs. They were full of energy and were so proud to be talking all about the Chippewa experience. We were then stopped on our way to the stables by four Trailriders campers who were raving about Chippewa, answering questions and talking about their camp experience. Izzi M, Maddie S, Braelyn S and Mia G were awesome Chippy ambassadors! We then made it to the climbing wall where we saw Elle H fly down the zipline with a smile on her face! Once we got to trampball, Noa C wanted to make sure our guests knew all about our Big and Little Sister program…it was so cute to hear her perspective. Basically the tour was awesome thanks to our amazing campers and counselors…it was impossible not to feel the spirit, energy and connection that is constantly present in our culture.
Today’s skiing achievements included Chloe Z getting up on two skis for ten seconds, Rosie H crossing the wakes on two skis, Kedzie Z, Leah J, Ivy R & Olivia R lifting a ski for ten seconds, Bryna C dropping a ski and staying up on one ski for ten seconds, Julia M dropping a ski and getting around the lake on one ski and Juliet G & Bailey F dropping a ski and crossing the wakes on one ski.
And then tonight, after our delicious BBQ dinner, we loaded the buses to head to the annual Timberlane Social Carnival. Siblings, cousins and friends from home were excited to reunite. There were delicious brownies as well as a dunk tank, a pudding eating contest and other fun activities. It was a lovely time for all, so a big thank you to Camp Timberlane for hosting us this evening!
One quick note about photos- I apologize for the delay in the past couple of days’ photos. There will be a good number posted tomorrow that we know you will all enjoy. Thanks for your patience on that!
Okay, that’s all I’ve got for tonight…thanks for reading!
Happy Camping and Love,
Sari
