Dear Chippies, Parents, Family and Friends,

Happy Friday! We are back to the best day of the week and I am excited to tell you all about it! We began the day with a birthday wake-up for Hayley B and a Seven Wonders Quiz. I ended up walking to the lodge a little bit early to set up our Friday morning campfire music and I walked past a very adorable scene. Campers who did not make it past the play-in round of the Seven Wonders Quiz were sitting at the Center Fire Circle listening as the morning game show played on the loud speaker. It was a mish mosh of campers all listening intently to hear what questions would be asked and who might make it to the next round…very cute! And then after a delicious donut breakfast, the entire camp gathered around the Center Fire Circle for the announcement of the United Nations Day Captains. United Nations Day is one of the best days of camp (in my personal opinion) and it is coming up a week from Monday. For both the Colt and Wrangler Village, four captains are selected based on their leadership skills and potential. It is a big honor to lead a UN Day team, and this summer, eight very deserving and amazing campers have been selected to help UN Day 2023 be a day full of spirit, sportsmanship and competition. A huge congratulations to Annie B, Mari W, Coco L, Emerson M, Cayla B, Scout K, Julia P and Jillian W!

We also had a wonderful day of regular activities. Jordie K, Sadie G, Sophie B and Arielle K climbed to the top of the wall and went down the zipline! At skiing Dylan K lifted a ski for ten seconds, Julia E dropped a ski and stayed up on one for ten seconds, Lily G dropped a ski and crossed the wakes on one ski, Ivy S got up on one ski for ten seconds and Cate M crossed the wakes on one ski. At cooking they baked delicious marble mini cupcakes and at tennis, campers were raving about a fun rallying game they played at the end of class.

At lunch we began our 15 Year Celebration for Lizzy LoGrande and Jen Becker, our 15 Year Girls! These two women epitomize what it means to be committed, loyal, hardworking, kind and integrous in our community. Over the last fifteen years they have demonstrated immense love for the Chippewa community. And today we honored them for this. We had a really nice rest hour ceremony where they were showered with love, poems, speeches and gifts. And to cap it off, we had the namings…when someone dedicates fifteen summers to CRC, we name something after them. And so, the ski area is now officially known as “Lizzy’s Landing” and the allergy window in the lodge is officially known as the “Dietary Jen-dow.” Very creative…we know :). Last but not least, the entire camp enjoyed cake in honor of the 15 Year Girls!

And tonight we had an incredible Friday Night Campfire and the theme was Connection. Julia P of Lakeview led the campfire and she did a fantastic job. Participants tonight included Lilah L, Cayla B and JJ S lowering the flag with Charlie I helping with the flag box, Izzi M singing a beautiful rendition of the Star Spangled Banner, sermonettes written and read by Hailey C and Anto Gonzalez, readings by Naomi M, Lexa T, Amari S, Gretta M, Blair S, Amelia F, Winnie K, Dylan B, Leni B, Elsie G, Ellie A, Stella R, Charlie S and Gemma F and songs performed by Leah Berns, Smoss and Cliff with the CR-Singers. Additionally, Olivea & Milly Crothers along with Taylor Finley from New Zealand shared a bit about their country and culture…it was very cool. The evening ended with a wonderful Keylog Ceremony and the Chippewa Creed.

That’s all I got for tonight…it was an amazing day at #TheRanch2023…lots of exciting happenings, a couple of inspiring moments and just some good old fashioned camp fun! Thanks for reading…talk to y’all later!

Happy Camping and Love, Sari
