Staff Spotlight- January 2023

Our January Staff Spotlight features Milly and Olivea Crothers! Milly and Olivea are from New Zealand, and in 2023 they will celebrate their International 5 Year! Their fun-loving attitudes, hard work, and dedication to their campers and to camp overall has made a huge impact on camp over the past several summers. We are SO lucky to have them as a part of the CRC community! Thanks for all you bring to Chippewa, Milly and Olivea! You are the best! Read below to learn a bit more about Milly and Olivea’s camp experiences and life in the off-season.
1. How many summers have you been at camp?
This year will be our 5th!
2. What cabin were you in during the summer of 2022?
Olivea: Timberwalk
Milly: Horseshoe
3. What is your favorite part about being a counselor at CRC?
The bonds that we create with not only our campers but all of them! It’s so special.
4. What was your favorite memory from the summer of 2022?
Definitely reuniting with our friends after so long after not being able to come to camp, and seeing all the campers grown up! We also loved Staff Capture the Flag- it’s our favourite because we get to participate! Getting to go with Trailriders to Mackinac Island was also amazing and so much fun!
5. What is your favorite camp memory of all time?
Our first 4th of July was definitely up there because it was something we’ve never experienced before! There’s too many to choose from though to pick a favorite because every camp memory is so good.
6. How do you stay in touch with your camp friends during the year?
We FaceTime them as often as possible, and message a lot! It sucks that we live on the other side of the world than our camp friends, but it makes it that much more special when we get to see them.
8. What are you most excited about for the summer of 2023?
Celebrating our 5 Year! And reuniting with all of our friends and campers.
9. What do you do when you are not at camp?
We spend a lot of time at the gym, walking, listening to podcasts, reading and hanging out with our friends!
