Staff Spotlight- February 2022

Our February Staff Spotlight features Sydney Goldman! Sydney is a fantastic counselor, loved by campers and staff alike. Whether she is in her cabin, down at the waterfront or anywhere in between, Sydney brings enthusiasm, humor and kindness to everyone around her. She is someone who leads by example and actively works to give campers the ultimate camp experience. Sydney’s love of and dedication to camp (as well as to Realm and her campers’ lip syncs) is unmatched, and we are so grateful to have her as a part of our CRC community. Read below to learn a bit more about Sydney’s camp experiences and life in the off-season.
1. How many summers have you been at camp?
10 summers!!
2. What cabin were you in during the summer of 2021?
In 2021, I was in Wagon Ridge.
3. What is your favorite part about being a counselor at CRC?
My favorite part of being a counselor is getting to know all of my amazing campers and watching them grow so close to one another and enjoy camp! I also love making up lip syncs for my campers, of course.
4. What was your favorite memory from the summer of 2021?
My favorite memory from the summer of 2021 was making pizzas every Sunday with my age group!
5. What is your favorite camp memory of all time?
My favorite camp memory of all time… that’s probably the toughest question ever! After texting with my age group about it and reminiscing over the past 10 summers, my favorite camp memory is probably my CIT summer when I sat on the hobie with my friends during the regatta (I had no idea how to sail so I just sat there, played music and ate candy!). We went so far out, and it suddenly looked like it was about to storm! The boat had to get towed in, which was an adventure in itself. It was so funny and random, and probably my favorite day of camp ever.
6. How do you stay in touch with your camp friends during the year?
My camp friends text and FaceTime each other all the time to keep in touch, and whenever we’re home from school over breaks we see each other.
7. What are you most looking forward to in the summer of 2022?
In general, I’m so excited to spend another summer with my best friends and the best campers, but what I’m most looking forward to has to be REALM: Season VI. It’s gonna be the best one yet!!
8. What do you do when you are not at camp?
When I’m not at camp, I’m a student at UW-Madison, and I’m involved in a few different clubs on campus. My favorite is my sorority, Chi O, and I was philanthropy chair last year!
9. Anything else you want to share with your Chippy family?
Chippewa truly means the world to me, and I couldn’t be more excited for summer 2022! There’s nowhere else I’d rather spend my summers, and I’m counting down the days until I’m finally back there!!
