Dearest Chippies,

Greetings from CRC! It was another beautiful day in the North Woods… the sun was shining bright as kids were laughing and running about. I guess you could say it was a “regular day,” but a regular day that felt anything but. That’s how it seems to go here these days; the fine is good, the good is great, the great is REALLY GREAT. We have officially settled into the traditional camp routine, and it feels better than ever. No complaints from anyone over in this corner of the world :).

Now onto the details of the day… we ran a full day of activities, and everywhere you looked there was fun being had. Zoe S got around the lake on skis and Ava M went down the zipline. Maddyn C and Jill M celebrated birthdays. Campers made snickerdoodles in cooking, glazed pots in pottery and rode horses down at the stables. I was joined before dinner for an office hang by Ellie A, Lucy B, Emerson R, Ivy S, Lexi K, Ava M and Laurel M. We chatted about our days and our favorite foods, and they had me cracking up for 30 minutes straight. Overall, it was an action-packed day. Everyone earned a good night’s sleep tonight!

To round out the day, we had a fan favorite Evening Program: Screen on the Green! Despite the lowkey nature of this program, it is one of my personal favorites—and based on the cheering when it was announced, I think many campers feel the same. But while the campers love it for the movie itself (Hannah Montana was the winner tonight!), my favorite part is the scene before the movie begins. Campers gathered on the North Field to get their movie snacks, chat with their friends and just hang out. On paper, it really is nothing special, but it always feels campy and cute to watch everyone just appreciating the presence of one another. Especially after the past year. I love being witness to the small, seemingly-insignificant moments that ultimately create the foundation of strong friendships. Those informal hang-outs are exactly what we have been missing the most, and lucky for us all they were on full display tonight.

And there you have it, folks. Another fantastic day of #TheRanch2021 in the books! Thanks for reading and talk to you all next Thursday!

Sincerely, Soph Aloaf
