Dear Chippies, Parents, Family and Friends,

Second session has officially begun and I believe we are on track to at least match all of the amazingness that first session brought. After a spectacular weekend with the eight week campers, I am feeling optimistic and excited for what’s ahead. So as our first night of session two comes to an end, I am happy to report that we have a camp full of campers and staff who are excited for all that lies ahead- from Realm to Kahuna Day to Songfest to climbing the wall and skiing around Dam Lake, we are ready to rock second session!

As for today, here’s what happened…

The buses pulled in throughout the early afternoon and “We Welcome You To Chippewa” was sung loud and proud. As new campers and returning campers flooded off the buses, hugs were exchanged and screaming was heard. Once we announced cabins at the Center Fire Circle, campers and their counselors enjoyed some time together getting to know each other, unpacking and touring camp before dinner. Naturally, the playground was a hotspot to spend some time this afternoon, so I had the good fortune to spinning a number of new and happy campers on the “spinny thing.” Per our first night of camp tradition, we enjoyed spaghetti and meatballs for dinner…yum!

After dinner, we had an awesome Friendship Fire in the North Field where we did some camp favorites including a Talking Contest, which ended in a crazy upset- Julia N defeated the reigning champion, Stephanie S. We also sang, “Walking,” which was led by the first year JCs- it was an impressive rendition! The Chippy Trivia Quiz Raffle was exciting…there were lots of locked pinkies but in the end, Silverspurs was cheering because Charlotte H’s name was pulled, and they are going to Cathy’s! My favorite part of the night was a long awaited Picolomini Contest, and it was worth the wait! A shoutout to new camper, Maddie Z who was incredibly brave in coming on stage to compete…pretty awesome for the first night of camp. Nicole L was the official winner- her speed, accuracy and melody were unmatched! Overall, the energy was high, and while I think everyone was ready for bed by the end, it was a wonderful way to kick-off the second session!

And that’s the round-up of our day at CRC. As we go into the final four weeks at #TheRanch2021, I know that each day I will feel lucky to be a Chippy. This is clearly a spirited group from Rafter all the way to Lakeview, and I am looking forward to finding out what’s in store for us this session. So for now that’s all but there will be many more details to come tomorrow. Thanks for reading- enjoy your night!

Happy Camping and Love,
Sari
