Dear Chippies, Parents, Family and Friends,

Once upon a time, Sundays were called “lazy Sundays” at Chippewa. Today, that description would be completely off base because we were BUSY! Busy in a good way, of course! Here’s what happened…

It all began at the lodge with our traditional Sunday morning breakfast. When I got down there at 8am to begin cooking, there was already a long line of early risers excited for their favorite breakfast of the week! We were busy in the back of the kitchen- scrambles were mildly popular but per usual, Cliff’s Omelets, Ruth’s Special and Lisa’s Famous Pancakes were in very high demand. I think it’s safe to say our customers (campers) were happy.

We then had our very first Fudd’s Challenge of the summer. A Fudd’s Challenge is an extra special Sunday cabin clean-up. Cliff does the grading and the top cabins from each village win a trip to Fudd’s Ice Cream Shop. Campers and staff alike were very motivated this morning…according to Cliff, cabins looked amazing! A big congratulations to Wagon Ridge and A-Frame- the winning cabins!

The remainder of the morning was spent doing United Nations Day preparations. Teams finished sign-ups, practiced their cheers and got hyped for tomorrow’s big day! Personally, I am sooooo excited- UN Day is always one of the best days of the summer.

After lunch, we had our very first Water Olympics. Age groups competed in a number of water activities including a blob competition, a log rolling contest, a kayaking race, a sandcastle building competition and a SUP balancing contest. There was a leaderboard on the waterfront and things got intense…kind of :). Mia G, Sophie B, Lilly R and Maddie B made an amazing CRC out of sand- that was my personal favorite “sand castle.” Additionally, Jemsie B won the kayaking race for her age group, Gretta M was the log rolling champ in her age group, Julia M balanced for the longest on the SUP board in her age group and Alexis R & Sophia G had the best blob in their age group. Overall, it was an amazing afternoon on the waterfront at #TheRanch2021.

Following a delicious pizza dinner, we had the first session Talent Show. And let me tell you, the whole thing was just SO CHIPPEWA! There were campers of all ages displaying all sorts of impressive talents. Leni B and Ellie C from Rafter performed a very cute dance, Jacklin R from C-C sang “Part of Your World” from Little Mermaid, Lakeview campers Danielle K and Emma H did a song and dance performance that had the whole theater laughing and Lily R from Silverspurs did a super-cute dance to “Cotton Eyed Joe.” There were plenty of other performances and the theater was buzzing with happiness, support and talent. Naturally, we had a Chippy Dance Party to end the night…it was a special evening for sure!

And that’s all, folks- our day was spectacular, and now everybody is getting some good rest in preparation for tomorrow! Have a great night and check back tomorrow to hear all about the awesomeness that will be UN Day 2021!

Happy Camping and Love,
Sari
