The Sari Diaries- Thursday 7/18/19

Dearest Chippies,

Greetings from second session! Another great day at #TheRanch2019. They may be flying by, but each one is packed with plenty of excitement, achievements and lots of fun. Don’t believe me? Keep on reading…

This morning started out with a quick rain, which changed up the plans for some activity areas… but for the better, according to the people I talked to. At 1st period riding, campers participated in a crazy obstacle course (which included jumping over horse jumps!) and at wall and ropes, they tested their agility and speed with a ground-based ropes challenge. Some campers even chose to swim in the rain, and had a blast doing so. The sun eventually came out, bringing more good times with it—for example, when the wood was still too wet to build a fire at outdoor cooking, the campers tapped into innovation and creativity and used sunlight to cook their quesadillas. It worked, and Mila S said it was the best (and most delicious) part of her day!

As for achievements, there were plenty to go around today. Charlie S and Sadie G lifted at skiing and Mia G learned 5 new songs on the guitar AND caught two fish. I mean… can you say talented?! In other news, big and little sisters spent rest hour studying up on each other, and arts and crafters left their respective classes with freshly tie-dyed t-shirts. Many campers also left for their camping trips, and the reports we have received are nothing short of incredible.

We topped off this fantastic day with a fan favorite evening program—Screen on the Green. For those of you who haven’t lived this program firsthand, it’s a legit movie theater experience, with a massive screen out on the field and plenty of soda, candy and popcorn to go around. As we waited for it to get dark enough to see the screen, I had the opportunity to chat with some Colt Village campers about their camp experiences thus far. It just so happens that all of them are here for their first summers, and all of them are already obsessed with this place. It is crazy to me how fast that love can grow, but it also goes to show just how much of an impact 4 weeks here can have. It was a fun way to warm up to the viewing of Annie, which certainly didn’t disappoint!

Hopefully this recap gives you some insight into how fun this day really was. Tomorrow is sure to be just as exciting. It’s gonna be a scorcher, but us Chippies can handle a little heat.

Thanks for reading and see you next week!

Sincerely,
Soph Aloaf
