Dear Chippies, Parents, Family and Friends,
It was truly a beautiful day in the North Woods, and here at #TheRanch2019, we made the most of every second we had on this hot and sunny day. Campers were excited to be in the lake, the cheering in the lodge was loud and the anticipation of tonight’s evening program added to the energy all day long. Here are the details of the amazingness that was June 26th at CRC…
The cabin of Trailriders returned from their trip to Mackinac Island. From all reports, the three day and two night trip was a huge success. The campers and staff had a blast- the highlight seems to be the tandem biking around the island…always a fun experience. In addition to walking around the island, biking, movie watching and eating, the bonding that went on while they were away was huge. This trip is always a fantastic way to kick off the Trailriders experience. What was two cabins throughout their camp career has turned into one big cabin for their final two years as campers. At this point, I think it is safe to say that this group is well on their way to being fully bonded!
Around camp today, there were lots of fun things going on at activities. At Arts & Crafts, the creations that were made with hama beads blew my mind! Lily H made an awesome Winnie the Pooh, Ashley R made a magnificent Darth Vader, and many other campers impressed me with their hama bead talents. In other exciting news, Leah C crossed the wakes on two skis today…that’s big time! Jenna W went down the True Blue at the Ropes course which she says was “so fun!” And at Random House, Sophie S, Avery R and Dylan G began creating a bakery (see the photo on the right) that is quite realistic. I absolutely love their ingenuity on this one!
This evening was definitely the rose of my day…and I am pretty confident that is true for many people. We had the 2019 Talent Show and it rocked! Zoey J started us off by playing and singing “One Tin Soldier” on her ukulele. Summer K, Samantha G and Charlie I performed a very well-choreographed dance and then Emery S, Molly R, Lily G, Amari S, Millie F, Kayla Z, Elle F, Lena S and Emmie D performed the song “Cups.” Next up was Annabelle K and Audry L performing a very funny skit that included Alyssa L participating from the audience. Sadie M, Lilah K, Georgia S and Lana M did a hula hoop performance with “Shotgun” playing throughout the theater…they definitely have some significant hula hooping skills! Mia G then sang “Viva La Vida” and it was amazing…I couldn’t believe her voice! Addie S also did a solo song- she sang “A Million Dreams” and it was beautiful! Jillian M, Talia M, Mikki L, Naomi R, Marli P and Emma S then danced on stage with lots and lots of cheers from the crowd. Probably the funniest act of the night was Bryna C and Izzi M doing a Project Runway skit. With Bryna as the host, Izzi and Lisa Lissner were the first two contestants. They were then joined by many guests from the audience including Cliff and Ruth! Ruth was the big winner of the skit and the entire theater was chanting her name! Joslyn A then got on stage and sang a wonderful version of “Ugly Heart.” The final act of the night included Sadie G, Annie S and Ella R doing a science project for the camp…they showed us how to make a volcano! Everybody was engaged and loved this unique talent that these girls brought to the show! And then, as a special act, Samantha G brought back GIRL PARTY! This is a song that she made up and sang for the camp as a very young camper. It is one that gets the whole camp hyped and singing along…it was special! The night ended with a Chippy Dance Party because what would a theater program be without it?!
At this point, campers are back in their cabins preparing to get a good night’s sleep so that we can have another magical day tomorrow. Rumor has it, there might be some rain but we shall see. Rain or shine, I am confident that our day on Dam Lake will be one full of creating fabulous memories. Thanks for reading tonight- enjoy Soph-Aloaf’s post tomorrow and I will be back on Friday :).
Happy Camping and Love,
Sari
