The Sari Diaries- Thursday 6/27/19

Thursday, June 27 by Sari Hirsch

Dearest Chippies,

Hello again! Soph Aloaf here with your weekly Thursday night update. I am happy to report that it has been a great few days since I last spoke with all of you—the sun was out, the smiles were big, the laughs were loud… overall, I’d say it has been a successful week, filled with exciting events and many impressive accomplishments.

Today in particular was peak amazingness. Throughout the morning, campers all across camp were passing levels and having the time of their lives. Skiing in particular seemed to be a hot spot for achievements. Sadie S and Samantha R crossed the wakes on 2 skis, Sophie G got up and around on 2 skis and Dylan G dropped a ski… the list goes on and on, but long story short we have a lot of future Chippy Bats on our hands!

This afternoon, we experienced rain for the first time ever in Chippewa history. Despite the rarity of this occurrence, the program directors were (luckily) prepared with a fan favorite rainy day program—rap battles! Cabin groups were given a random word and had to create a rap performance that centered around it. Following an intensive prep session, everyone gathered in the theater to perform their masterpieces. I have to say, it really was an impressive show. Congratulations to Silverspurs, who won the overall grand prize with a song about a bicycle. Honorary mentions to Horseshoe, who had the best performance, Rafter^X, who had the best rhymes, and Trailriders, who had the best lyrics.

We wrapped up this incredible day with some friendly camper-counselor competition. In head to toe costumes, campers and staff alike showed up to Beat the Staff determined to bring home the W. Their enthusiasm led to some fantastic match-ups in a variety of activities, including ping pong, Uno, sock wars and spike ball. Blackfoot and Horseshoe ended up walking away with the victory for this one; their skills really blew the staff out of the water!

And there you have it, folks. Another Thursday for the books. I wish all of you could be here to experience the amazingness that is #TheRanch2019. My words cannot possibly do it justice… But please trust me when I say that life here at camp is GOOD.

Thanks and see you next week!

Sincerely,
Soph Aloaf
