Sammie Taxman is featured in the April Staff Spotlight. We feel very lucky to have Sammie as a part of our staff team once again this summer. She is the perfect combination of fun and silly meets caring and kind…truly the balance that we want each of our staff members to find. Sammie was a wonderful camper and she has grown to become an essential member of the Chippy family- one who her campers and fellow counselors love! Read below to learn a bit more about Sammie and her camp experience.
How many summers have you been at camp?
This will be my 10th summer!!
What cabin were you in during the summer of 2018?
Blackfoot
What is your favorite part about being a counselor at CRC?
The best part about being a counselor is getting to watch my campers grow as people, and learn to love camp as much as I do.
What was your favorite memory from the summer of 2018?
It was raining outside and instead of staying inside all day, my cos and I decided to take our campers jumping in puddles. We wore bathing suits and shorts and got all dirty playing in the puddles, it was so fun and truly the epitome of what I love about camp.
What is your favorite camp memory of all time?
Some of my favorite camp memories just involve hanging out with my friends and getting the chance to bond and get even closer.
What are you most looking forward to in the summer of 2019?
I’m excited to continue to make new friends and connections, and hopefully go down the zipline on ten year.
How do you stay in touch with your camp friends during the year?
We text each other a lot to catch up on our lives at school and try to see each other as often as we can when we are home.
What do you do when you are not at camp?
I do a whole lot of theatre! I’ve had the privilege of working on four shows this year at NYU!
Anything else you want to share with your Chippy family?
I am unbelievably excited for this summer; I know that it will be the best one yet!
