The Sari Diaries- Saturday 7/21/18

Friday, July 20 by Sari Hirsch

Dear Chippies, Parents, Family and Friends,

We had quite the day at CRC and we are definitely deserving of a sleep-in and cabin day tomorrow. We have been busy since early this morning and it has really been quite lovely. Here’s what happened today…

I had the privilege of giving two tours, one this morning and one this afternoon. The highlight of each tour was having current campers come up to us and tell the families all about camp. Cameron H deserves special recognition for really giving particularly thoughtful details. I was impressed with the information she was sharing (given that she has been at camp for a total of six days) but also with her delivery…she was animated, engaging and well-spoken!

After lunch we had a coin ceremony where we honored a number of deserving campers. It began with a distribution of the Growth Coin to all of the new campers. Then Julia E was given the Responsibility Coin, and as Lisa was describing the characteristics of the coin recipient, the entire Center Fire Circle knew that she was talking about Julia! Additionally, Sasha L received the Advocacy Coin and Annabelle K received the Compassion Coin. All three of these girls have demonstrated these respective characteristics time and again and it has been noticed by so many all summer long!

Despite the chill in the air today, waterskiing was still running in full force. Campers were excited to pass levels, and that they did. Eden G and Lindsay A dropped a ski and Danielle K got up and around the lake on two! The commitment of those who waterski at Chippewa is significant…any opportunity they have, they will take to continue progressing in this awesome camp skill!

Tonight, we enjoyed an delicious BBQ. Visitors and Chippy Alumni, Fradin and Lucy, were excited to indulge in every Chippy’s favorite meal! For our evening program, we headed over to Camp Horseshoe for a social. They put on a great night for us with music, popcorn, and a bounce house. There were lots of very cute sibling reunions and a good time was had by all.

And there you have it, another day to write home about at #TheRanch2018. It is hard to believe that week five is coming to an end but it’s happening. Tomorrow will bring even more fun as we have an incredible day planned! That’s all for now but thanks for reading :).

Happy Camping and Love,
Sari
