The Sari Diaries- Monday 7/30/18

Sunday, July 29 by Sari Hirsch

Dear Chippies, Parents, Family and Friends,

Well another amazing day has come and gone at #TheRanch2018 and I am excited to relay the news of all of the happenings around here! Our days our jam-packed from this point on, and as I sit back and reflect on today, it seems crazy how much we accomplished. So I guess I’ll get straight to the point…here’s what happened:

We had three trips depart today, and on those trips we had about sixty very ecstatic Chippies who were embarking on an adventure. The cabins of C-C and Bowed Legs traveled to Copper Falls and according to Sami Kieffer (C-C counselor who is on the trip), “They had an awesome time on the hike and loved hanging by the beach.” Over at Jag Lake, the cabins of Silverspurs, Lucky-X and Circle C got to watch a beautiful sunset after their day at the beach. And finally, fifteen campers from Boots, Cactus and A-Frame went on their canoe trip and are having a blast!

This morning at camp, some of our senior tennis players enjoyed a tennis clinic with Denise Murphy who is an incredible tennis coach. They were raving about their two and a half hours with her, and are already looking forward to part two of the clinic on Wednesday. We are so appreciative that Denise was willing to share part of her summer vacation with us in order to help get our tennis players mentally and physically prepared for their high school tennis try-outs!

Before lunch, we gathered around the Center Fire Circle for an important announcement. Kahuna Day, which is an all-camp program similar to first session’s UN Day, is this Thursday. Each year, four campers from the Colt Village and four campers from the Wrangler Village are selected to be captains of the Kahuna Day teams. At the Center Fire Circle this morning, we learned who those captains are for this summer. A huge congratulations to Sasha G, Ashley R, Riley G, Annie M, Sarah N, Samantha S, Hannah D and Talia S on earning this great honor. These eight campers have demonstrated, through their actions this summer, that they have the potential to be fantastic leaders on this spirited day!

With just about six days left of activities, campers are working extra hard to achieve the goals they set for themselves. At skiing, campers are passing levels left and right- it’s pretty cool! Zoey S dropped a ski, Julia P got up and around on two, Ayla Pedersen crossed the wakes and Olivia Rosenblatt got up and around on two. That all happened this morning…kind of crazy!

After dinner tonight we had the privilege of hosting the Plum Ski-ter ski team. Two of our waterski instructors, Adam Koehler and Kayla Ignasiak, are members of this impressive team, and tonight we had a private ski show on Dam Lake! Campers and staff were mesmerized at the talent on display by the Plum Ski-ters, some of whom were as young as seven!

And then, to end our day, we had Screen on the Green in the North Field. Everyone gathered on blankets and chairs to watch Trolls! There was popcorn, canteen and drinks for all…so between the food, the movie and the relaxation, we had a lot of happy campers!

So that’s the recap of our wonderful day at CRC. Talk to you tomorrow…goodnight!

Happy Camping and Love,
Sari
