The Sari Diaries- Sunday 7/9/17

Dear Chippies, Parents, Family and Friends,

Wow, it is officially the end of week three…where in the world did the time go?! While it is going a bit fast for me, I am happy to report that we had another amazing day at #TheRanch2017. From Sunday morning breakfast through the evening program, the momentum of camp is full-on! Here are the details from our day…

After a delicious breakfast (at least that’s what they said about our cooking), United Nations Day teams met to learn cheers and sign up for UN Day activities. The excitement level surrounding tomorrow’s program is quite high…it is going to be an incredible day!

This afternoon we had cabin lip sync, and if it is possible, these performances topped anything I have ever seen. Soph-Aloaf and I were the judges, and it was crazy how impressive each and every cabin was. Blackfoot was obviously soooooo cute up there on stage in their purple shirts and jean shorts. Their counselors helped from the aisle…it was adorable. Boots did a Thriller & Backstreet Boys mash-up…from their costumes & facepaint to the dance & lip syncying, I couldn’t believe what they had put together. Both Trailriders and Lakeview performed with crazy-high energy, and definitely showed the camp what a “Chippy Dance” looks like. Bowed Legs was awesome…at one point, I actually thought Shira K was singing. Then there was Horseshoe’s version of Disturbia which was out of this world. Rafter^X did a TV song mash-up that began with Home Away From Home…it was so sweet. And then there was Wagon Ridge who blew me away…they did a High School Musical song…they had props, a slapping hand beat going, they knew all of the words and were just outstanding. They were the Colt Village champs and Trailriders came out on top in Wrangler. No joke, every single cabin could have won…they were that good!

After our pizza dinner, we enjoyed a show from Tom Pease at the Center Fire Circle. Tom has been coming to Chippewa for over 30 years and his songs are some of every Chippy’s favorite. The energy around the circle was high, and both campers & staff were eager to sing and dance along. Some of the crowd favorites were Down in the Garden, Pancakes for Breakfast, Belly Button and Wildabeasts. Tom ended with Love Grows which is such a nice song that the entire camp either knew or learned quickly. It was sweet to see everyone singing and signing in unison to cap off the night.

But that wasn’t all…after we sang, “We Love You Tom,” and many campers and counselors went back to their cabins, Tom continued singing some of his older songs that our counselors remembered. There were about 25 of us still out there for this mini-concert/encore performance. From Superstar to Zaminama and Soboonana Coo Sasa to We Come From The Mountains, I think we officially got every song we requested….it was perfect!

And now, everyone is turning in early to get ready for the best United Nations Day in Chippewa history. I am on Aruba and cannot wait to get decked-out in my blue and white gear. Elyssa Fishman, Sophie Friedland and Nikki Richter have been working incredibly hard to plan this day, and the captains/advisors are ready to lead their teams to a day full of fun and spirit. It should be a good one!

Okay, I think that’s all from me for now. Thanks for reading- I hope you enjoyed! Goodnight Chippies.

Happy Camping and Love,
Sari
