The Sari Diaries- Wednesday 6/28/17

Dear Chippies, Parents, Family and Friends,

Aside from the excessive water falling from the sky, I would say it was another incredible day at CRC. We obviously didn’t let the rain stop us from our fun but we did alter our plans a bit. Read below to find out all about our stupendous day on Dam Lake.

Yesterday, half of the campers from the cabins of Timberwalk and Horseshoe left for their canoe trip, and this morning we picked them up from their campsite. They had a blast on the trip- enjoying a canoe paddle to an island, some swimming in the lake at their campsite and s’mores.. It was so cool to have a mini-van full of 12 year-olds excitedly telling me about who was in their canoes, who was in their tents and how delicious the pancakes were. Campers at Chippewa are sometimes hesitant to go on their camping trips but it is awesome when they come back to camp feeling so positive about their experience.

In addition to the return of the canoe trip, this afternoon Trailriders arrived back at camp with lots of stories about their trip to Mackinac. They loved spending time on the island, and with each other. They were truly missed around here…a cabin of 31 in addition to seven fantastic staff members really had a noticeable impact on this community. Now that they are back, camp feels whole again!

This evening we had the Kawaga boys over for a social. Due to the high chance of rain, we decided that an indoor program was probably wise. Missy Rosenthal worked the entire day to lead our staff in planning and implementing the best social this camp has seen in ages (possibly ever). In the theater, there was food, music and carnival games. When campers walked in through the side door, it didn’t even feel like the theater. There were different attractions all around and campers were able to win tickets at the different booths to buy prizes with at the end. There were also stations in the lodge and main house set-up for different age groups. The program was done so well…it was organized yet fun, and was a night at #TheRanch2017 to be proud of.

Those are the main highlights of our day around here. Fingers crossed for a dry day tomorrow…but if not, there is no need to worry…without a doubt, it will be another magical day at Chippewa! Thanks for reading- I look forward to writing to you all again on Friday night…enjoy Soph-Aloaf’s post tomorrow!

Happy Camping and Love,
Sari
