Dearest Chippies,

Surpriiiiiise—it’s me, Soph Aloaf, back for another 8-week stint of hijacking your computer screens every Thursday evening. I know some of you are disappointed that tonight’s entry doesn’t start with the classic Dear Chippies, Parents, Families and Friends… And rightfully so. I will be the first to admit that Sari is a muuuuch more informative TSD author than I am. But hopefully with a few paragraphs of rambling and cheesy metaphors per week, I will be able to show you a different perspective of life out here at 8258 County O. You will have to let me know how successful I am in this endeavor as the summer progresses.

For those of you who are new to the Sari Diaries this summer, congratulations on discovering your new favorite Thursday night tradition. I so appreciate your readership, and out of gratitude would like to take this time to formally introduce myself (only the need-to-knows, I promise). My name is Sophie “Soph Aloaf” Marwil and this is my 14th (!!!) summer here at CRC. I like neutral colors, being active, Chippewa (duh), French macarons and my blue Connecticut College sweatshirt. Please direct any questions re the Camper Talent Show 2004 to Cliff.

I know, I know. It’s enough. Now on to the important stuff…

I’m sure you won’t be surprised to hear that today was an eventful day here at CRC. Day 2 of regular activities was in full swing. Excitement was palpable and staff and campers alike enjoyed skiing, climbing the wall and jumping on the trampolines, among much else. In other news, we had pretzels for snack, and Sari and I learned the hard way just how much Chippewa campers like Snyder’s honey mustard pieces (hint: a LOT).

We ended the day with Big and Little Sister Night. Earlier this week, younger campers were assigned older “big sisters” who have really stepped up to help ease their transition into (or back into) camp life over the past few days. Tonight, these pairs got to show off their teamwork, determination and knowledge of one another. They roamed around camp and participated in various activities such as egg toss, Name that Tune and shoe toss. The costumes were on point and the energy around camp was contagious… but only one pair came out on top. Congratulations to Sam G. and Reese S. on your impressive victory. I hope you enjoyed your Cathy’s—it was well deserved!

And with that, I would like to say thank you for tuning in to tonight’s wordy rendition of The Sari Diaries. After just the first few days of the session, #TheRanch2017 is shaping up to be the best summer yet. Already I am excited by the opportunity, future memories and inevitable nostalgia that this summer is sure to bring, and I look forward to sharing these things with you in the coming Thursday’s. See you next week!

Sincerely,
Soph Aloaf
