The Sari Diaries- Monday 6/26/17

Sunday, June 25 by Sari Hirsch

Dear Chippies, Parents, Family and Friends,

I would first like to apologize for TSD last night…I realize that I didn’t even write about the winners of Barnyard Bedlam…oops! While both teams had an absolute blast, the Whites pulled off the victory. Okay, that’s all about yesterday- now onto today.

It’s a bit cold up here at CRC but we managed to keep the fun level at an all-time high. Campers and counselors alike enjoyed some modified activities and some regular activities…depending on the activity area. Regardless, it was a fabulous day at #TheRanch2017 and I am excited to tell you all about it. Here it goes…

Early this morning, Trailriders left for their camping trip to Mackinac Island- they couldn’t wait to experience all of the fun that age groups older than them have been talking about for years. Thus far they are having an amazing time and are looking forward to a great day tomorrow. More updates on them in the coming days :).

The CITs spent part of their day-off in Rhinelander volunteering with the food pantry in their garden. They did an awesome job and really got their hands dirty while doing good for the community. I absolutely love their desire to help others- this is a fantastic group of CITs who are doing a wonderful job as staff members and role models to our campers.

Meanwhile back at camp, the ropes course was a bit wet. Not to worry though, the staff out there created an on the ground obstacle course that included some of the high ropes course elements. I headed over there and tried it out with Reese S. At the stables, there was a lot of learning happening. Some campers stayed in the barn to learn about stable management and the horses. Others were outside riding around the ring. Due to Trailriders being gone, I had the opportunity to take a riding lesson with some of the Lakeview campers. Carly M led my horse around while Sami S and Ari S were on other horses with Caroline H and Molly L leading them. It was very cool to be out there with that crew- I was impressed with their knowledge and skills!

Tonight’s evening program was a carnival led by Sam C, Sammie T, Hannah C and Ilana S. They did an incredible job, and with the help of the entire staff, a fantastic night was put on for the the Chippy campers. The carnival took place along the waterfront from the volleyball courts all the way to the North Field. There was a crazy obstacle course, pies in the face, popcorn, baggo, jenga, a dance party, a costume contest, caramel apples, and an goofy raffle to end the night. Alexis F and Bryce S won the costume contest and many cabins won various raffle prizes. A great time was had by all!

I think that’s about all from me for tonight. Thanks for reading…I hope you enjoyed!

Happy Camping and Love,
Sari
