The Sari Diaries- Friday 6/30/17

Thursday, June 29 by Sari Hirsch

Dear Chippies, Parents, Family and Friends,

It was a beautiful day in the Northwoods…at least for forty-five minutes of the day :). We had a lot of fun and excitement here at CRC and I am thrilled to be reporting to you this evening from The Office at the Top of the Hill. Here are the details…

Last night, the cabin of Blackfoot ventured to the HNS for their camping trip. They made s’mores, hungout by the campfire and took lots of photos. This morning, they came back to camp for breakfast and were sooooo excited to tell us all about their trip. Taylor G is asking when they can go again and I think it is safe to say that their first Chippewa camping trip experience was a success!

In other trip news, Copper Stripes, Rafter^X and Wagon Ridge enjoyed their stay at Bond Falls last night. They loved seeing the waterfalls, swimming in the lake and their tent experience. They even named the tents :). I was lucky enough to pick the trip up this morning. In my van was Chandler S, Julia H, Ivy F, Chloe C and Emma D. They were quite eager to tell me all about the fun they had. I love those moments- typically unexpected- when I get to spend quality time with campers…definitely a nice time!

Seeing as today is Friday, we had a campfire this evening. Our Friday Night Campfire program is by far my favorite. Each Friday night, I am reminded what an amazing place this is, and tonight was no exception. Don’t get me wrong, the other six nights of the week, we have programming that is awesome. I love the wild & crazy, dress-up nights at camp when campers & staff are on stage having the time of their lives. That said, there really is something special about the entire camp sitting around the fire circle at the lake taking a moment to reflect on the week. The theme of tonight’s campfire was Leadership and Bella A did a fantastic job as the campfire leader. We heard a sermonette from Julia F which was amazing and Chippewa Compass Coins were awarded to Dani G and Missy Rosenthal. Dani received the EMPATHY coin, which the entire camp agreed was very well deserved. Missy was recognized for RESPONSIBILITY…she is truly someone who goes above and beyond the call of duty…she is appreciated by campers and counselors alike. The Keylog Ceremony felt extra special tonight- it seems like campers are really understanding the significance of throwing that little piece of wood into the fire. There were tons of “thank-yous,” “I’m proud of yous” and “I love yous” from cabinmates, family members and friends. It was an exceptional night and I was once again reminded how lucky I am to be a part of #TheRanch2017.

Okay, I think that’s all for tonight. I appreciate you checking in to read all about our day. Have a good one!

Happy Camping and Love,
Sari
