The Sari Diaries- Sunday 7/10/16

Saturday, July 09 by Sari Hirsch

Dear Chippies, Parents, Family and Friends,

I hope you have all had a lovely Sunday! Cabin Day here was amazing and full of both action and bonding. We did have a bit of rain but that didn’t stop us from having a good time and loving life at CRC. And here are the details of our day…

This morning, as I walked up to the lodge to prepare breakfast, the line was already ten plus campers long. After a delicious breakfast, Colt Village loaded buses which were originally intended to go to the zoo. Because of the rain, we switched destinations and went to the bowling alley! Campers and staff were excited to bowl and of course snack at the Island City Bowling Alley in Minocqua. Meanwhile, back at camp, Wrangler Village was participating in a variety of cabin/age-group bonding activities. Bowed Legs played celebrity salad bowl which is one of my very favorite games. The twist was that all names in the hat had to be camp names. They loved it and were entertained literally for hours! Boots, Cactus and A-Frame did an age-group big and little sister day planned by their counselors. They had a great time and loved bonding with their entire age group!

Tonight we had Tan & White Skit Night- a program always good for a laugh! The Braves had very cute commercials that they made for the “Tanny Pack” and the “FlashWhite.” They were excited to be on stage and performing for their team. The Hunters created cheers that were pretty impressive and Warriors created songs…they definitely have some serious talent. The humor though always comes during the Chief skits. Both teams were funny as they highlighted good Chippewa moments throughout this summer. Campers and staff alike were laughing and loving the show. The Whites were victorious tonight but the truth is that everyone who was in the theater felt like a winner!

I had the good fortune of driving the CITs on their night off this evening. We ventured to McDonalds in Eagle River and had a blast. I love van rides at camp…they are a wonderful way to chat, sing and create memories with other Chippies. It isn’t often enough that I take uninterrupted time to hang with our CITs- they are a great group and tonight was a reminder of how much I like spending time with them. Their spirit and camp enthusiasm is incredible and they have worked extremely hard thus far this summer. It was nice to spend the night with them eating and chatting!

So that was our day at #TheRanch2016. I hope you enjoyed tonight’s post…thanks for reading!

Happy Camping and Love,
Sari

PS I hope you enjoy the old school photo of me teaching softball…I swear that wasn’t posed at all ;).
