The Sari Diaries- Saturday 7/2/16

Friday, July 01 by Sari Hirsch

Dear Chippies, Parents, Family and Friends,

Good evening to all! I hope you had a lovely day and are getting excited for the 4th of July…we definitely are ready around here! Today was another wonderful day full of awesome things to report to all of you. So here it goes…

The 4th of July visiting crew arrived throughout last night and today. We have about ten alumni who are here to celebrate our favorite day of the summer with us. We love having visitors here as a reminder to campers and staff that Chippewa stays with us forever! It is always fun for campers to interact with the Chippy alum to compare stories and participate in activities together. There aren’t too many things that are cuter than watching an eight year old camper challenging a twenty-five year-old alum to a game of trampball. Lots of fun was had by all!

Circle C, Wagon Ridge and Rafter^X returned from their trip this morning and they had lots of stories to tell! They climbed the falls, swam in the lake and enjoyed cooking over the fire…the s’mores weren’t too bad either! The staff had a blast and were very impressed with the campers’ enthusiasm!

In other exciting news, Emma S went down the Tru Blue for the first time and was super proud (as she should be!). Additionally, Chloe C was eager to show off her turtle that she was making in pottery. And right after their running class, Sarah D, Rebecca R and Sydney G were so happy to have run three laps around camp! In short, activities are going swell…like the water bottle that is quite popular around here :).

This afternoon, we tried out our new sno-cone machine and it was awesome. We only had one bag of ice but made over fifty sno-cones for campers to enjoy throughout the afternoon. The machine is definitely ready to make 300-plus delicious frozen treats on the 4th!

I guess that’s all for now…I will share plenty more tomorrow. Have a great night!

Happy Camping and Love,
Sari
