Dear Chippies, Parents, Family and Friends,
Welcome to the June 28th 2016 edition of The Sari Diaries. I feel pretty confident that you are going to enjoy tonight’s reading…at least I hope! We have had a really nice day full of good things and positive vibes…I don’t have any complaints :). And here are the highlights…
Trailriders enjoyed a wonderful day on Mackinac Island. They biked around the island, ate fudge and walked through the town enjoying the car-free atmosphere. Reports from the counselors and trippers are that this has been an incredible trip for all! We are excited to have them back at CRC tomorrow but are very happy that they are enjoying their time.
Silverspurs and Lucky-X headed out on their trip to Crystal Lake today. I had the pleasure of bringing them to the campsite and it was amazing how excited they were. What I love is that the counselors from these two cabins have shown an immense amount of enthusiasm which has clearly had an impact on their campers’ feelings about sleeping in a tent overnight. Once settled at their site with the tents pitched, they enjoyed a swim in the lake, dinner over the fire and, of course, delicious s’mores. It’s been a great day and night for those cabins!
After a lovely day of regular activities in camp, it was Pirate Night at #TheRanch2016. This insanely popular program created a ton of excitement. The male staff prepped themselves to look like pirates and cabins dressed from head to toe in their cabin colors. As I walked into the theater before the program started, cabins were screaming/singing their cabin songs…it was sooooo loud and the spirit was awesome! The evening began with the pirates invading Chippyland by boat while campers and staff were running and screaming away from them. Counselors protected their campers from the pirates as they collected flags and followed clues to find the treasure. In the end, the cabin of Bowed Legs was the big winner. Regardless of the winner, there were smiles plastered across every single camper’s face as the night ended. A big shout-out to Spencer Berlin, Rachel Rappaport and Annie Zlevor for running the night of fun!
It all ended with our weekly Lakeview meeting. This was the first of many and it was a good time for sure. The pizza we ordered didn’t hurt the mood but the anticipation of the 4th of July is where the real energy was coming from. We talked about ideas and plans…it is already clear that the entire day is going to be amazing…everyone should prepare for the best 4th everrrrr! This group is on top of their game and are coming together to create an outstanding program for the entire Chippewa community in just under a week!
So was I correct? Did you enjoy? I hope so! Thanks for reading- good night to all!
Happy Camping and Love,
Sari
