Dearest Chippies,
Hello, it’s me…
No, not Adele. Sorry if that lead in was confusing. It’s me, Soph-Aloaf. Duh! In the spirit of tradition I thought I would stop by on this fine Thursday evening and give you all a quick hello. For those of you new to TSD, welcome and congratulations on discovering your new favorite blog. For all of my old and loyal fans, yes don’t worry, I’ve missed you just as much as you’ve been missing me.
If you’re taking the time to read this, I’m assuming that you’re either obsessed with Chippewa or you’re obsessed with me… Either way is totally fine, and I’m not gonna ask you to specify don’t worry. For those of you who don’t have enough info to decide one way or another, let me take a quick sec to introduce myself. My name is Sophie “Soph-Aloaf” Marwil and this is my thirteenth (13!!!) summer at CRC. I can often be found strolling around camp in my blue Connecticut College sweatshirt and while I do occasionally do some semi-important things to help camp run smoothly (have you seen Chippewa’s snapchat this week?!), my talents can best be seen on the 4th of July slip-and-slide and right here, every Thursday night.
Okay, so enough about me. On to the good stuff.
As far as days at Chippewa go, today was a 9.43 out of 10… Only not a 10 because it started out a bit chilly, however, that didn’t stop any of these eager Chippies from enthusiastically participating in activities all around camp. The new swimming program has been getting rave reviews, fishing is off the hook (pun intended), and skiers are getting up and around the lake faster than Colt Villagers run to the Hirschy Bar when they call mail.
But most importantly, tonight’s evening program was Big and Lil Sister Night. The CITs did an AHHH-MAZING job planning and running it. Seriously the best Big and Lil Sis night I can remember in my many, many years at CRC. Between the greatest obstacle course in Chippewa history, the egg toss, the Chippy Dog Challenge… I honestly can’t even tell you my favorite part. Claps for the CITs on a job well done, and congrats to the winners, Ari H. and Bella K.! Your Cathy’s is well deserved.
So in summary: today did not disappoint. And while I will go to bed tonight with zero doubt that 2016 is going to be the greatest summer the Ranch has yet to see (yes, I know this is said every summer… But it’s also true every summer), 2015 is certainly going to be a hard year to beat considering I swam AND ran for UN Day, didn’t get found during Counselor Hunt, and was privileged enough to play alongside Chippewa’s very prestigious Senior Tennis Team. But if Sari can eat every flavor at Cathy’s this summer, I think I can make sure #TheRanch2016 puts #TheRanch2015 to shame.
So that being said, welcome to the best summer evaaaa. As always, it has been a pleasure to share today’s happenings with all of you. Thanks for reading and indulging in my lame jokes. Be patient these next 6 days, next Thursday will be here before you know it.
Sincerely,
Soph-Aloaf
