Staff Spotlight- February 2016

Featured in our February Staff Spotlight is everyone’s favorite baker…Jen! Jen has been at camp since 2007 and has been an essential member of our kitchen team ever since. Campers are constantly chanting for her brownies, cheering when her s’mores bars come out and love to wave to her through the kitchen window. We love having Jen at camp and appreciate that she truly cares about each and every member of the Chippewa community. She is always willing to go out of her way to put a smile on a camper’s face and we are confident that her secret ingredient is love :). Read below to learn more about Jen’s camp experience…

How many summers have you been at camp?
It is my 9th summer.

What cabin were you in during the summer of 2015?
Mary’s Manor!

What is your favorite part about being a counselor at CRC?
My favorite thing about being the baker is seeing the campers and staff enjoying my treats!

What was your favorite memory from the summer of 2015?
My favorite memory of summer 2015 is having the parents weekend dessert buffet in the awesome tent, in the North Field.

What is your favorite camp memory of all time?
I have many fond memories but one of my favorite memories has to be going out on the pontoon boat with a fishing class and getting stranded and Duncs having to tow us in with the ski boat! Yes, I was late back to the kitchen but well worth it!

What are you most looking forward to in the summer of 2016?
I’m looking forward to spending time teaching the CITS some baking skills…. During Chippy All-Stars 2016.

How do you stay in touch with your camp friends during the year?
The way I stay in touch with my camp friends is mainly with Facebook and Instagram! True fact Chippy Internationals set up my account… :) in 2007.

What do you do when you are not at camp?
When I’m not at camp. I work as a pastry chef in a small country club in Miami (check out the photo of one of her displays on the right).

Anything else you want to share with your Chippy family?
I am looking forward to seeing all of my Chippy family at the Ranch in 2016!
