The December Alumni Spotlight features Linsey Friedman. Linsey was a long time camper/counselor and now is a Chippewa parent. Sari was lucky enough to have her as a counselor in both 1994 & 1995 and Linsey is one of her all-time favorite counselors! Linsey is a die-hard Chippy who cherishes camp and exemplifies camp values on a daily basis. Last year, she helped plan the CFAK Cocktails Around the Campfire event which was a huge success. We feel incredibly proud to have her as a continued member of the Chippewa community and truly appreciate her support and positivity about everything relating to CRC! Read below to learn more about Linsey’s camp experience and be sure to check out the awesome photos…
What years were you at CRC?
1985-1995 (10 years, skipped one)
Which summer was your favorite and why?
I think Trailriders year. 1989. It was just so fun when our whole age-group came together! We had the best counselors, such a memorable cabin trip, and nonstop fun.
What is your favorite camp memory?
Our Mackinac Island trip. A story from our trip even made it into Tom Adler’s book!
What was your favorite activity at camp?
Water Skiing- always! I would have waterskied all day if I could and eventually was an instructor so that I could be part of it all the time!
Were you a Tan or a White?
A WHITE (still am, ha!)
How do you keep in touch with your camp friends?
I am lucky enough to have many of them in my community so I see them around regularly. Definitely Facebook helps. I would love to plan something more formal soon.
Where do you live now?
I live in Deerfield, Illinois.
What do you do?
I am a yoga instructor and full-time mom.
What do you miss most about camp?
Everything! I try to bring as much “camp culture” into our home and lives as possible. I miss the consistency, simplicity, loyalty, support, and constant security that camp provides.
Is there anything else you want to share with your Chippy family?
The best decision I have made as a mom is sending my daughter to Chippewa. I remember one of my campers had an alumni-mom and she was always so enthusiastic about it. I totally get it now! It’s the best of all worlds. I get Chippewa back in my life and my daughter gets the experience of a lifetime!
