The Sari Diaries- Monday 8/3/15

Monday, August 03 by Sari Hirsch

Dear Chippies, Parents, Family and Friends,

Monday, August 3rd has been a spectacular day at camp and I am happy to be reporting live from #TheRanch2015 this evening. We had a day full of fun- read below to learn all about the excitement that occurred…

  1. After breakfast, we all headed to the Center Fire Circle for the much anticipated announcement of Kahuna Day captains. Each summer, four Colt Villagers and four Wrangler Villagers are selected to lead a Kahuna Day team. It is quite an honor to be chosen and these campers are selected based upon the leadership, kindness and overall camp spirit they display throughout the summer. We are very proud of these eight campers and know that they will lead by example on Kahuna Day (Saturday).

  1. We had quite a few trips head out today. Silverspurs and Lucky-X went to Crystal Lake and they were super excited for their trip led by James and Callam. Blackfoot is camping at the HNS tonight and they are having a blast. I got to drive Timber Walk, Boots and A-Frame to their trip this afternoon and it was so cute to hear them eagerly discuss their plans for the campsite. They were playing cards, “Zoomy” and singing like rockstars the entire way. Reports from all of the trips are very positive and everyone is sound asleep in their tents after a night of cooking over the campfire and eating s’mores.

  1. Cliff has added a new and very intense quiz portion to his morning wake-ups. It is similar to the “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” setup and campers have been loving it. If a camper answers four questions correctly, she gets to choose an admin staff member to throw in the lake. If she answers five correctly, she gets canteen for her entire cabin. With six correct answers, she and her cabin win a trip to Dairy Queen with me. The seventh question is nearly impossible but if answered correctly, the cabin gets a trip to Pizza Hut with the Lissners. Molly P of Circle C answered six questions correctly the other day which makes her by far the most successful contestant to date. Because of her intelligence and quick wit in answering these questions, I was privileged enough to accompany the cabin to DQn this evening. It was fun to spend some time with them and I loved how excited the whole crew was to eat blizzards in Eagle River.

  1. Chippy Challenges was tonight’s evening program. We introduced this event to CRC last summer and it has been a hit! Campers dressed up together and walked around with their cabins challenging staff members to random and funny competitions. These challenges consisted of handstands, balancing water on their heads, button sorting and limbo…don’t worry, there were many other skills needed this evening in order to compete against our very talented staff :). The campers had a great time and the staff were, as always, enthusiastic, silly and fun!

As you can tell, it really was a nice day around here. I appreciate you reading this evening’s post and I hope that you have a really splendid night.

Happy Camping and Love,
Sari
