The Sari Diaries- Saturday 7/25/15

Dear Chippies, Parents, Family and Friends,

What a fabulous day it has been at #TheRanch2015 and my heart feels full of Chippiness. Today basically consisted of everything awesome that camp has to offer…please read below to learn more…

  1. Jenny Day is an annual Chippy program in which we honor Jenny Snyder who was an incredible Chippy camper, counselor and human being. We celebrate her with a day to bond with our age groups and enjoy this magnificent place we call home each summer. In addition to eating Jenny’s favorite camp meals (chocolate chip pancakes, grilled cheese and BBQ), we spend time with our camp friends making s’moreos, friendship bracelets and playing in the lake. Jenny’s age group came up once again this summer and helped lead this amazing day and we were so happy to have them participating in activities and honoring Jenny’s Chippewa legacy.

  1. This morning we had regular first and second period activities which were a blast for everyone. In cooking, they made butterscotch brownies and in swimming, there was a lot of splashmat action. Grace F crossed the wakes for the first time in skiing and she was super-excited. Per usual, Chippies could be found all around camp having a nice time, learning skills and building confidence.

  1. After lunch, spirits were out of control high. We cheered for Tan & White and each team sang close to ten songs. It was so cool to have sachems from the past leading their songs that they created for songfest. The lodge was loud to say the least- campers and staff alike cheered their hearts out!

  2. As is tradition on Jenny Day, tonight was Tan & White Capture the Flag. This is a hugely popular program that campers and staff look forward to all year long. Muriel G scored twice for the Tans which is pretty unheard of and impressive! Both teams played great and a huge amount of athleticism was displayed throughout the evening. The game ended just before dark and the Tans came out on top. After the sportsmanship songs were sung, everybody sprinted back to their cabins for showers, cabin bonding and bedtime.

So that was the day- it was lots of fun. Tomorrow we are looking forward to our first second session Cabin Day. I hope you all have a wonderful Saturday night…talk to you tomorrow!

Happy Camping and Love,
Sari
