The Sari Diaries- September 2014

Dear Chippies, Parents, Family and Friends,

I hope you are all doing well and back in the swing of “real life.” Since leaving camp, I have done my very best to surround myself with lots and lots of Chippies to help ease my transition into the off-season. Here are the highlights…

1. After camp, I had many staff visitors staying with me. It was awesome to hang out, hear about their travels and just reminisce about the summer. Those staff include Ryan, Josh, James, Loren, Azeb, Ana Paula, Callam, Sam, George, Jade, Katie and Ffion. While they were here, many others came to hang out, and it felt just like camp!

2. Two weekends ago was Kato Hinden Gupta’s wedding. It was full of camp friends from near and far, and spanning over fifty years in Chippyland. At the rehearsal dinner, we took a number of goofy photos including pretending we were in the wings on the stage of the Little Theater along with fake Songfest poses. It was fun to celebrate such a special occasion, and of course, the Chippewa contingency represented camp well on the dance floor!

3. As I ran along Chicago’s lake path a couple weeks ago, I was pleasantly surprised to see Talia K and Emily S on their way to New Trier sailing practice! It is so cool that they are applying their skills learned at camp to an awesome club at school. Not only was I lucky enough to see them on my run, but I also got to see Shira K with her mom walking to raise money for a charity. Both of these sightings made the run much more exciting :).

4. It is amazing to believe, but we are already well under way in looking towards the summer of 2015. Cliff and I have visited a number of new camper homes to meet the families, and help get them excited for the upcoming summer. It is always fun to talk with new campers and answer any questions they might have. We can tell that we have an awesome group of new Chippies coming in this summer! Aside from that, we are busy planning reunions all over the country. We will keep you posted with the plans, and hope to see all of you at in at least one of our reunion cities!

And that’s about all for now- the past month has been bittersweet. Although it was sad to leave camp, it has been awesome to see camp people and look ahead to the summer of 2015- Chippewa’s 70th summer! Okay, thanks for reading…see you and talk to you all soon.
