The Sari Diaries- Wednesday 7/23/14

Dear Chippies, Parents, Family and Friends,

Thanks for checking back to see all of the craziness occurring in Chippyland. It was another wonderful day and here are the highlights…

  1. Today we had two trips depart and they are both having an excellent time! The second sessioners from Boots and Cactus went to Copper Falls while the second session campers from Timber Walk and Horseshoe headed out for their canoe trip. According to Jordyn Lustig (counselor in Timber Walk), they watched the sunset, had a campfire with s’mores and all seven girls are staying in the same tent, and loving the bonding time. Both trips are due back tomorrow, and while we definitely miss them, we are glad they are enjoying their time in the wilderness.

  1. This afternoon, North Star’s senior village came to hang out with our campers. They log rolled, had a photo scavenger hunt, played trampball, ate at the BBQ and made s’mores. The campers had a ton of fun at what they are calling the “docial” (day social). The North Star boys are always great to be with and we even had a few siblings who got to see each other. Overall- it was awesome to have them!

  1. I feel the need to give a shout out to Silverspurs camper Molly P. After the BBQ tonight, there was a need for a massive clean-up. There were seven staff members who had stayed on and had their work cut out for them. Molly was one of the last campers at the BBQ and stayed the entire hour to help complete the task. She brought the food in, she carried the water jugs and she wiped down the tables. This was all unprompted and simply out of the goodness of her heart. This is just one example of the amazing campers we have running around #CRC2014.

  1. Tonight’s evening program is one of the few that we repeat in first and second sessions. Screen on the Green is a fantastic program that came at just the right time. After the BBQ, campers set up their chairs, crazy creeks and blankets in the South Field in preparation for the movie viewing. They got a drink, popcorn and even canteen to eat while watching the movie. The feature was “Cheaper by The Dozen,” and everyone loved it. Watching the entire camp relaxing and enjoying the movie together was pretty cute :).

I guess that’s all for today…it was another fantastic one and we are already looking forward to tomorrow! Have a great night.

Happy Camping and Love,
Sari
