The Sari Diaries- Wednesday 7/16/14

Tuesday, July 15 by Sari Hirsch

Dear Chippies, Parents, Family and Friends,

It has been a really nice day here at #CRC2014. The weather was finally perfect for camp and we had lots of excitement throughout the entire day. Here are the highlights…

  1. After lunch, our Junior Tennis, Soccer and Basketball teams went to Camp Agawak for an intercamp. The girls had a lot of fun competing against the Agawak campers and of course, socializing with their friends. The Chippies came out on top in tennis, tied in soccer (2-2) and lost by two points in basketball. Luke, Hannah and Callam were the coaches who traveled with the campers and were very impressed with the skills and sportsmanship that was displayed by our teams.

  1. All reports from the Lakeview Trip in Madeline Island are great. The girls are having a fantastic time and enjoyed yoga and stand-up paddle boarding today. They are eager to go berry picking tomorrow before heading back to camp in the early afternoon. Their absence has been quite noticeable around here, but we are thrilled that they are enjoying their time together in a beautiful location.

  1. After breakfast, the second session A-Frame, C-C and Bowed Legs campers left for their trip to Grand Island to go sea kayaking. They had a really nice time kayaking on Lake Superior and are loving this trip. It is so cool to see the pictures and to hear from the campers about their experiences on these trips. We always have some campers who are hesitant to go, but they have all really loved the trips this summer. A special type of bonding happens when out in the wilderness, and we love that they come back excited to share their stories with us!

  1. Glorious Ladies of Wrestling (GLOW) has been an annual evening program at CRC since 1998. It is a camper favorite, and one that always evokes a ton of spirit and laughter. Tonight the staff really put on a good show for the campers during this awesome activity! There were wrestling matches between Wall and Ropes, Jammers and Poms, UW Madison and University of Michigan, Cathy’s and Fudds (ice cream shops) along with a number of others. The costumes were amazing and staff choreographed awesome “fights” to perform for the campers.

There you have it- life in Chippyland is fantastic. We had an incredible day and are looking forward to more good times tomorrow. Thanks for reading and have a lovely evening!

Happy Camping and Love,
Sari
