The Sari Diaries- Thursday 7/3/14

Thursday, July 03 by Sari Hirsch

Dear Chippies, Parents Family and Friends,

This was a perfect camp day! The weather was amazing, activities were fun and campers were spirited. Here are the highlights…

  1. It was a huge day for achievements on the waterfront. At swimming, two campers who were non-swimmers before the summer have advanced to the deep end. They are officially blue caps which is awesome. They are both very excited and the staff who has been working with them are extremely proud. There were also lots of good things happening out on the ski docks. Sydney M dropped a ski and crossed the wakes. Additionally, Ally S dropped a ski and got around the lake. It is amazing to see and hear all of the progress that is happening in every activity!

  1. Lunch was crazy-loud today! We cheered for Tan & White, and both teams screamed/sang their hearts out. From male staff to campers, everyone in the Adler Lodge was having a blast. It all ended with the Tans and Whites together singing “Gonna Build Me a Castle.”

  1. As the 4th of July approaches, we have a lot of camp visitors. Today, Mike Hertz (my high school friend) and Lucy Pinkwater (Chippy alum) visited. I love walking friends around camp and showing-off all of the wonderful things that are happening around camp. The best part though is how friendly the campers and staff are. It is so obvious how proud the Chippies are of our camp.

  1. Tonight we played Tan & White Capture the Flag. It was a great show of competition and sportsmanship. I was a referee in the South Field and saw Emily M, a CIT, display some amazing kindness. As she was about to grab a camper’s flag, the camper slipped. At that point, Emily could have easily grabbed the campers flag, but instead, she allowed her to go into the box. This small act was a great demonstration of how we hope our campers and staff will act even in moments of intensity.

As you can tell, this was a truly fabulous day at #CRC2014! We are looking forward to the 4th of July tomorrow and cannot wait to see the program that Lakeview has worked so hard to put together.

Happy Camping and Love,
Sari
