Dear Chippies, Parents, Family and Friends,
Ten Year 2014 was awesome! This day is always one of the best days of camp, and we absolutely love that we got to honor eleven very deserving Ten Year Girls. Here are the highlights from today…
- Everybody ran down to breakfast this morning so that we would be there to welcome the Ten Year Girls to their special day. As they walked into the lodge, they were definitely surprised that today was the day. Once they arrived, the entire camp sang, “We love you Ten Year Girls…” They were thrilled, and enjoyed a morning saying made up just for them along with a Wolfpack breakfast.
- The sun was shining all day and we were lucky enough to have regular activities. In pottery, they finished making their fairy houses and the campers were really excited to complete the project. While campers were enjoying their daily activities, the Ten Year Girls were right alongside them skiing, climbing, riding and sailing. They had a blast participating in all of their favorite activities from when they were campers. It was also very cool for the campers to get to hang out with the very famous Ten Year Girls :).
- Because we had eleven Ten Year Girls this summer, we began a new tradition. All campers that wanted to say something, sing something or recite a poem had the opportunity to do so at our rest-hour ceremony. It was so nice to hear the immense impact that these Ten Year Girls have had on our campers and on this camp throughout the past ten summers. A special shout-out to the Cactus campers- their song for Morgan Levy was amazing and very well rehearsed!
- After rest-hour, but before afternoon activities, we all traveled back to the lodge for one of the most important parts of the day… cake! Jen The Baker made three beautiful and delicious cakes for the entire camp to enjoy.
- The capstone of today’s events was the official Ten Year Ceremony in the theater. The Ten Year Girls sat on stage as their age-groups, sisters and friends toasted, roasted and honored these special Chippies. It was fun to hear stories of the past and remember these eleven girls as Colt Village campers back in 2005. The campers loved listening to the reminiscing and we are hoping that they are eager to one day be Ten Year Girls themselves.
Overall, this day was incredible. Between the eleven of them, there are 110 years of Chippewa experience. They have left and continue to leave a huge footprint on this camp as well as the people who consider this their home. We appreciate all that they have given to CRC and feel truly lucky to have such an amazing group of girls still with us at camp.
And that wraps up today- this Sari Diaries entry was obviously dedicated to the 2014 Ten Year Girls. I would like to officially thank them for “Ten years of service and their friendship too.”
Thanks for reading…have a great evening!
Happy Camping and Love,
Sari
