The Sari Diaries- Tuesday 6/24/14

Tuesday, June 24 by Sari Hirsch

Dear Chippies, Parents, Family and Friends,

Day is done here at #CRC2014 and it was another fabulous one. The weather was quite weird and indecisive, but lucky for us, it didn’t get in the way of any of our plans. Here are today’s highlights…

  1. It was wonderful day of regular activities as everyone around camp was eager to participate. This morning was very warm and campers wanted to be in the water, so water activities were in good shape. The Chippybats skied before breakfast and enjoyed the extremely calm lake. In painting, the campers painted flowers on a canvas and they were all very focused. Elsewhere, fun was had and lots of skills were learned and practiced.

  1. This afternoon, the cabin of Horseshoe departed for their camping trip. We dropped them off at the campsite where they made dinner, played games, ate s’mores and are now sleeping in tents. Tomorrow morning, they will wake up and canoe back towards camp. The reports from the counselors and trippers are that they are having a blast and enjoying the bonding experience.

  1. Trailriders has loved their second day in Mackinac. Some of them took a horse and carriage ride and others tandem biked around the island. They enjoyed spending time together and loved the car-free environment of the island. Overall, their trip has been a huge success and we are looking forward to having them back at camp tomorrow.

  2. One of the best parts of the day was dinner…it was such a spirited meal with tons of cheers. Staff got together at the Trailriders table bringing back age-group cheers from years past and campers sang their cabin songs proudly. Before announcements, we ended with “A Chippewa Girl” at which point the entire camp was up and united as one.

  1. Tonight’s evening program was a social at Camp Timberlane. They always put on a great night for the camps and everyone had a blast. There was a carnival in their field with music, fortune telling, face painting and a dunk tank. The highlight of the night though was the game show “Singled Out.” We had two participants- Lucy Hoffman and Sydney F who were on stage in front of both camps having a great time.

That is it- a day in the life of a Chippy. It was another fantastic day :). Have a lovely night!

Happy Camping and Love,
Sari
