Dear Chippies, Parents, Friends and Family,
This is the first of many diary entries that I will write throughout the summer of 2014. The goal of the Sari Diaries is to give you a quick snapshot of each day at Chippewa this summer. I am planning to write these posts daily, but I am hoping you will forgive me if I miss a day or two throughout the summer. Don’t forget to also follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to stay up to date with our summer highlights.
The official start of summer (June 16th) is quickly approaching and we already have over thirty staff members here to participate in various trainings and to help get camp ready. We had a big arrival on Friday night (very late evening), and today, we had three Ten Year Girls arrive who are members of our Administrative Team.
The Wall & Ropes Crew has officially begun their four-day training and we are very excited to have eight returning staff members partaking in this twelve person course. Tonight we began Admin Week with a fun meeting to kick things off, and tomorrow we will begin our Lifeguard Training Course run by our Program Director, Kate Bradley. The Ski Boat Training will be towards the end of the week and next week is our Horseback Riding Training.
In other exciting news, today is Josh Gascoyne’s birthday. He is a second year male staff who is our Climbing Wall Director. We decorated the Adler Lodge for him, had cake at lunch, sang the birthday song and tonight, had a pizza party in his honor. He is truly having a Chippy birthday!
Overall the entire staff seems amazing thus far. We have a ton of returners here, and the six new staff members who have already arrived seem like hard-working Chippies. We are looking forward to the remaining staff coming up throughout this week and next, and before we know it, June 16th will be here and camp will be filled with happy campers.
That’s about all for today, but check back often for updates on pre-pre-camp, pre-camp and then on #CRC2014 :). Thanks for reading and have a great evening.
Happy Camping and Love,
